I recently purchased a 2021 Ram Quad Cab, mainly because it is shorter than the Crew Cab and my garage space is limited. I have always liked the Standard Cabs and would have considered one if available. I was tempted with Ram Classic but wanted to go with a Gen 5. Anyone else?
Posting to follow. My garage is super tight (I bought a Quad 6’4” because its four inches shorter than the Crew 5’7”). I use a tennis ball suspended from the ceiling and it works OK but interested if there is a better way.
The “fun factor” that comes with the 3.92 seems to be overlooked. I’m not talking burn outs, power stalls, and donuts. Just safe spirited driving. I don’t drive a lot and most of my trips are short but I enjoy the highway on ramps, getting up to speed on the freeways, etc.
…..key phrase, “I...
I recently bought a Ram with the Hemi and 3.92 rear end and am happy with it. I’m going to make a comment and ask a question that will show my age. At one time a 3.92 rear end was considered very low for an everyday driver. But that was when high gear in the transmission had a ratio of 1:1. Now...
Yeah, l like to go to the car wash too. There is a touchless one near me where you do your own vacuuming and touch up drying. Also a full service wash, have a coffee and snack while waiting. I used to spend hours detailing my vehicle only to have to drive in the rain the next day. No more.
I too had to go check. Mine’s Ok. Bit of a thread drift, I recently traded my Jeep JLU in on a Ram. I miss the Jeep but like the Ram much better. Pretty much all JK owners complain about the fob. Those suckers are huge, shaped like a bar of soap and will not snap together as they should. How...
I had the same engine in a Jeep JLU. A JLU weighs about the same as a Ram. I got 15 mpg at best. On the eight speed transmission, 6th gear is 1:1, 7th and 8th are overdrive. My Jeep seldom shifted to 7th and very rarely 8th. Can you cruise in 8th gear?
I went with a quad cab, 6’4” bed because it’s five inches shorter overall than the crew cab with short bed. I park in the garage with the help of a tennis ball and it’s tight. The crew cab/short bed would not fit.
I rented one of those once to tow a small front wheel drive vehicle. Only about 250 miles but it worked well. Nice thing about a Wrangler, you can put the transfer case in neutral and you are good to go with a tow bar.
Not suggesting, just curious. Have you researched or considered using a tow bar instead of a trailer? I see RV’s pulling Jeeps with tow bars quite a bit.
OP, congrats. I’m thinking, like it or not, electric vehicles are the future. I just read an article about the new Hummer. A 9,000 vehicle that goes 0-60 in 3 seconds! I impressed with the Ford F-150 electric truck, hope Ram follows suite. My DIL just purchased a Tesla. I’m very impressed with...
Or she could use one of the ports that are not connected to the sound system, charge only. In my truck the port in the console does not interface with the sound system.
With my current driving habits the new Lightening would fit the bill. Mostly short city trips. All charging could be done in my garage. That truck is a ”grocery getter” deluxe. It has a huge weather proof storage area under the hood. Guess you would have to back into a parking spot at the...
I realize it’s the nature of the beast but my main gripe regarding SMX is that it cuts out in my garage, underpasses, bridges, tall buildings downtown, etc.
