Yeah that's pretty shady and as others have said it's a typical tactic they use. There's no reason you can't have a deal worked out at the time the order is placed, and if they are worried about a price increase they can opt to price protect the order so both dealer and customer are protected...

I miss mine, but they definitely don't work well for family life. Super fun to whip around in, especially in the snow. I still have fun with my crew cab but I can't do donuts at the intersection at the bottom of our street anymore.

Just for the record, on the 1500s the tow mirrors came with the option of power folding starting for the 2021 model year (finally!). Along with this you now also get the 360 camera view that was previously eliminated by selecting the tow mirrors.
