The canvas type material on the Extang is really nice quality. Mine is still only a couple of months old. My Dad has the same one on his 2019 Rebel and it looks pretty much the same as my brand new one. Both our trucks are kept outdoors...unfortunately.
I have the Extang Signature version which has a convertible top type material vs. a leather/vinyl look. I really like it and it seems to be well made. It has adjustable cam type connections on the 2 front sides plus another tether clamp on both sides. As you mention there is a spring-action...
There will probably be a time, I just don't think it's now. I've gone thru enough cell phones to know that no matter what, after about 2 years...the battery no longer holds the same charge. I'm not convinced it's any different in a vehicle.

The install is waiting on the build of the exhaust with the black tips. There was none around. They even searched all their local distributors to see if they could "retrieve" an exhaust from them, but no luck. So, unfortunately like everything else today...there is a wait time.

Been using an electric Toro to get most of the water off my vehicles for years. After that, it is just a quick dry with some towels. The blower really comes in handy to get excess water out of the fake plastic hood vents, mirrors, door handles, etc....spots that would constantly leave drip marks...
