My air bag instructions said you shouldn't use/don't need a weight distribution hitch with air bags. Now I get it makes the WD setup a bit more tricky... I wouldn't think you'd want to adjust the air bags after the WD hitch is set up. But I can't imagine air bags totally remove the need for a WD...
Not to throw gas on an old fire... but I'm still pissed about this and just was looking over the features my truck should have according to my VIN... and right there it says "Power Black Trailer Tow Mirrors." Ugh.
I put a 2x4 across the landing pads mounted on the tracks and measured down (did this on both tracks). Three of them measured a half inch shy of 7'. The last measured a hair under 7'. The rail and landing pads might add an inch? I also have a leveling kit and bumped my tires up in size from...

the exxtreme lid...
Honest people wouldn't be going through my truck ;)
I'd say it's more about keeping you safe from somebody who is trying to make a quick heist. They may see the safe and give up... I hope. It'd be a lot better if somehow it could bolt to something solid.
I have the same concern. I'd sure rather it bolted into the frame. I still installed mine, but when I ordered I didn't realize this was the case. Hopefully it's a deterrent though...
