Just took a 500 mile highway trip to Orlando and back in my 19 Longhorn 5.7/3.92 with 8000 miles on it.
On the way up with ~500lbs cargo and 2 passengers averaged 19.5 doing 68-73mph with adaptive cruise on. On the way back with only passengers averaged 20.0 at the same speeds. Noticed on the...
I towed my camper over the holidays but only 35 miles each way and there was traffic. So inconclusive so far.
Mid February I have a 500 mile trip planned. I should have something to report after that trip.
In my mind the max towing rating is just marketing hype. Especially for the 3.92 equipped trucks. Most people will exceed the payload capacity if attempting to pull a trailer anywhere close to the max towing weight.
The short answer to your question Is yes, options that add weight to the truck...
Tinted my windshield with 3M Crystalline without issues. They did take special precautions with some absorbent ropes that they put up in the front of the dash. Then covered the whole dash with towels. They do a lot of high-end vehicles and were aware of the problems that can arise. They said I...
I’d go with the 750 bars for sure.
I have the air suspension and I’m using the Blue Ox with 1500 bars even tho my tongue weight is 840-870. But there’s also the weight of the hitch itself and anything heavy in the bed. Was using the 1000 bars but they were maxed out. More options for how much...
If you were doing any towing you would immediately realize the value of the 33 gallon tank. You want all the gas you can carry when you’re only getting 9-10 mpg and your truck/trailer can’t maneuver into a lot of gas stations. I usually hold out for a truck stop when I’m trailering on the road...
7500 miles, no issues, no recalls. Only an oil change so far.
Mileage is 15-16 around town, 19-21 on the highway and 9-10 towing. Each based on the lie-o-meter after at least 20 gallons consumed. 87 octane except when towing, then 89.
When my wife drives it she gets noticeably worse mileage.
He also stated that the trailer weighed 8429 loaded and ready for camping so he’s well within Max Trailer Weight and GCVW. There are several members here towing that and more with a bumper pull. With the added stability of a 5th wheel, by limiting passengers and putting all cargo in the trailer...
Here’s a link to the 2020 Towing Guide which lists all the rating information. We’ve seen some payload door stickers as well in the “Please post your tire & loading sticker“ thread. You’ll see in the guide that the eco-diesel trucks magically get an additional 100 GVWR in most configurations and...
Normally I would agree with you about higher payload ratings. BUT then I see the new eco-diesel trucks are rated for an extra hundred pounds of GVWR over the hemi. Even saw that for an air suspension eco-diesel truck. As far as I know Ram didn’t change the air suspension, axles, tires, wheels or...
You probably already know this if you’ve been reading this thread but the dry tongue weights listed by the trailer manufacturer can be very optimistic. Many come off the line heavier than the advertised weight and most manufacturers don’t include filled propane tanks and batteries, not sure...
Some older threads on Rebel mpg.

I’m towing similar weight (see trailer specs in my signature) with my Longhorn but with only the wife and I and a couple hundred pounds of cargo in the truck. No problems.
You’re looking at a bunk house so I’m assuming more passengers. If you have a good weight distribution hitch with built in...
If you’re not overloading the truck and you have a good weight distribution hitch that’s properly setup you shouldn’t have a sag problem.
With my 2015 Laramie, I routinely towed my travel trailer (840 tongue weight) with 300-500 pounds of cargo and 2 passengers. Used the Blue Ox Swaypro and...
