What @Mclovinnnnn said as he just summarized my assessment after talking to vendors (i.e., Filthy Motorsports, BDS, Carli, Fabtech, Fox, others) directly myself on this issue. I still can't get my mind around using 4-inch drop bracket components (which involves cutting the frame and other...
Well, not the dirtiest it's ever been, and these photos do not show all the dirt as well either, but it got dusted with some mud on the underside (due to some mountain stream crossings) after a full day of wheeling around Yankee Boy Basin.
Actually got done late last night but cleaned up this AM so think this qualifies.
I had previously bashed in my Rebel's factory skid plate while off-roading in the desert a few months back (was driving a little too enthusiastically into a dip...lol). Anyway, finally changed out the factory...
Well, it's been a while due to my hectic work and travel schedule, but finally decided to replace my silver Rebel skid plate with my new powder coated replacement skid plate. I had decided to split the difference between the silver and black selections of my survey (where results favored the...
Sorry, that is not normal so not sure why/how Fabtech would say that to your shop. Mine does not rock like that at all when stopping which is why I think something is not installed correctly. Do you know the part number for your kit? Also thinking they might have installed wrong kit for your...
I agree that the shocks are tuned for higher speed response and therefore stiffer than stock at slower speeds, but should not rock the truck unless I am misinterpretting what you mean.
Have had mine for about 21 months now and no issues or needing greasing. When I ran Total Chaos UCAs, seemed liked I was constantly greasing them as those were always making noise.
Yes, your tires are most likely the culprit as both the BDS and Zone use the same top spacer systems to attain the lift but resuse the factory suspension components so the ride should be almsot exactly the same (with consideration of slightly decreased handling due to higher center of gravity...
Okay, thanks...I was wondering about that. I definitely would not add a spacer to the front Fox coilovers as that would seriously degrade the shock travel and ride quality performance (and put your very expensive Fox system on same performance level as a much cheaper and restrictive ReadyLift...
For sure. I was told Fox would have the new shocks out by spring 2022. If true, they probably won't be out on time since I plan to be in Moab the first week of March.
So @ayoslickxd, are you saying you have a 3.5-inch lift with the Fox 2.5 coilovers? If so, how did you get the 3.5 inches of...
So my brother and I are planning a trip to Moab this coming spring, but I am still worried about tackling some of the more popular runs (like Fins and Things). As I proved out during a recent desert run in which I manage to bash in my front skid plate on hard pack sand, the front approach angle...
Yeah, those windshields are not very aerodynamic...lol. This is his second FJ and it's the Trail Edition. He almost sold it too but I convinced him to keep it. Glad he did as these are getting harder to find and value is going back up, but they truly are awesome off-road with the short wheelbase...
So not a Ram nor my build, but I have featured off-roading my Rebel with my brother in his FJ. He is a graphic artist so thought it would be fun to highlight his Star Wars inspired FJ Cruiser wrap he designed and applied.
I love having a topper; not only can I secure things out of sight, I can haul wood loads, Christmas trees, and gear when overlanding/off-roading. For skiing, it makes a great changing room too and place to keep wet gear. Plus, it makes for a great bug out or emergency camper (if that is a...
Sorry, I missed seeing this earlier! You can check my post here: https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/desert-dawg-ram-rebel-build.20220/post-278614
Dang, you must have hit that pothole just at the right angle to shear like that! I have run in/out of potholes and into rock ledges/crevices (even dropped the entire truck off some boulders) and into hard pack without any issue (except for some damage on the truck itself but nothing on the Dirt...
Not hard, but definitely time consuming as there are quite a few hard to reach fasteners and bolts.
To get an idea, check out @HammerdownYouTube video;
You can also check out @VICE design excellent video on removing the entire front bumper (including working the fender flares). You can skip...
So been a little remiss and distracted to keep my mods moving along. But I did finally get the skidplate facia powder coated and started assembly of the hidden winch mount.
For the skidplate, the results of the poll overwhelming favored the black powder coating over leaving it stock. But when I...
