Glad you like yours. Most shops are advising that the issues from the KO and KO2 are still present in the KO3, i.e. they're hard to balance and wear poorly. One shop manager told me last year that he advises customers against them because it causes his shop guys extra time trying to get them...
Well we've already seen:
- 14 hours of labor to change a simple water pump (!)
- Exhaust routing on some models won't even allow for transmission fluid/filter changes, which means people just won't do it, which means shorter trans life
- Timing jobs are a nightmare
- Electrical issues galore
I...
Why the hell are destination charges STILL going up? They are already insane. $2k to bring my truck from the factory to the dealership? Why can't I just buy a plane ticket, come get my truck, and put the $1,700 in my pocket? And now it's going up again? Why? Fuel prices are going down, not...
I strongly disagree with post #4 and my buddies who are service writers would tell you the same. The Hurricane is an overly complex, overly expensive engine. It has flaws that will really begin to show themselves in a few years when more of them have higher mileage on them, and labor times are...
If you plan to keep the truck as long as you possibly can, DO NOT use 0W20. It is a hard working engine in a full size truck. It needs proper viscosity and protection to avoid valvetrain issues. On my first oil change I dumped the factory fill and never ever touched a bottle of 0W20 again...
Keep in mind that those ratings come from buyer reviews, and buyers generally don't know s*** about tires. All they know is that if it's black, round, and doesn't cause problems it must be good. So take those Tire Rack comparisons with a grain of salt.
I drove a '24 and the transmission was just as silky smooth as ZF transmissions have always been in these trucks. And, nobody was complaining about the trans. So what changed for '25? Why would they alter the TCM programming between model years? That doesn't make sense.
A more plausible...
Exactly what I'm thinking. Same interior, essentially. Still get 4-corner coil springs. But that sweet 6.4L Hemi is there without eSuck added to it, and it actually has a usable payload rating.
What I saw is that Monday, August 18th is the day the 5.7L trucks are scheduled to begin production.
I want one, but I do not want one now. It's been quite a while since the lines built 5.7L trucks and they will need time to get the bugs out.
I did some experimenting with my 5.7L non-eTorque. I would run through an entire tank with MDS off all the time, then run through a tank with MDS on, then another tank with MDS off, then a tank with MDS on.... so on and so forth. Hand calculating each tank and filling up at the same gas pump...
Before the prior administration directly caused prices on EVERYTHING to double I was talking to a technician at my dealership and he said the eTorque MGU was a $1,400 item and they "commonly fail just out of warranty". I shudder to think what that generator unit costs today...are they $2,500...
15 MPG from my '22 non-eTorque 5.7 with 3.21 gears.
Traded it for a '19 F-250 CC 4x4 that has 450 HP and is getting 18 MPG with 3.31 gears. But that's diesel for ya'....
I honestly may go back to a 5.7L Ram IF the deals are good next year just because I like the 5th Gen Rams so much.
If you don't change the filter, that's like putting fresh clothes on over top of dirty underwear. Why would anybody do that?
Protip: Buy the Dorman brand pan. It is the same price of the Mopar OE pan, but it has a replaceable filter element inside AND it has a drain plug on the pan. Much...
What is the GAWR (gross axle weight rating) and Payload rating on the door jamb sticker of that truck? If you don't mind snapping a picture that would be great. Trying to see if the newer 1500s have enough capacity for what I need.
