I'm pro-ev strictly from a performance standpoint. Our '24 crv is a hybrid but it's an awesome little car that can do pure EV for a few things.
I fully recognize the govt and corps are pushing EVs down our throats. I do not like that part. So all my predictions aren't necessarily based on what...
I think they may delay the REV indefinitely.
I still think the RamCharger could be a limited time deal (10-15yrs) while the EV world matures. This perfectly solved the largest flaws of pure EVs while giving people something they're mostly familiar with. Toyota is teasing 600+ mile batteries...
@LaxDfns15 Agreed. This truck is sounding better and better by the day as more information gets out.
As you mentioned - the average American is putting around 15,000 miles a yr on their vehicle. If they drive every day that equates to 40 miles a day. So theoretically you could charge the truck...
Further proof that towing may not cut the range in half like previously considered.
"The 3.6-liter V-6 is a natural fit as it offers the capability and durability needed while towing," Dorchies said. "In the case of a heavy load (towing) or wide-open throttle, both battery and generator power...
Yea I'd need to watch the engineering videos. I wonder what the possibility of the generator just supplying the electricity straight to the motors while towing.
I think alot of the people saying they're missing the point are also missing the fact that they're rating this for 14,000lbs of towing and 2400lbs of payload preproduction. If those numbers are accurate and we get any semblance of that MPG when towing then this is going to be an amazing vehicle...
I used jscan for my tires as I have an iPhone. I think I used an online calculator for my wheel circumference and then tweaked it to match the GPS on my phone.
I've got 275/65r20s and run mine around 38-40psi. 10,000 miles on them and they've got even wear. I know it's not apples to apples but the in truck MPG gauge says I get around 14-15mpg.
I did this for your scenario though.

@StuartV Thats fair on the 10 yr time line. I chose that simply as that's around the time some of the govt mandates are supposed to hit. I agree it will probably be longer. I think the real scenario that kills the ramcharger is when we have the capability of recharging 200-250miles of range in...
I'm thinking the Ramcharger may also be a limited run (10 yrs or so). If we really do go full EV as a nation then as the infrastructure grows and the technology evolves there may not be as many current issues. So Ram sees this as a stepping stone with the REV being the ultimate goal.
The important thing to note with the MPG as well is that the engine WILL NOT be moving the truck. Theren is no mechanical linkage between the engine and the wheels. It is simply a generator to charge the batteries so they can move the wheels. So I'd imagine it will be running at it's most...
For sure. I'm excited. This may very well be the truck or atleast powertrain options I look for in my next truck.
Idk that I'll ever get rid of my current truck. Who knows what kind of money the last v8s will be able to command - thinking similarly to how the 70s-90s trucks are selling today.
I had similar thoughts. Definitely impressive tech but I wonder about the reliability aspect.
Where did you find the mpg? I couldn't find it in the article linked. That was something I was curious about. I imagine it'll be pretty case by case. Since they mentioned 50 miles of all electric...
My truck has the brow. I'm 6'2. It's fine. I like it and put it on all of our vehicles. I sit pretty far back and low in my truck. So it doesn't impact my view out of the windshield. I've considered tinting the whole windshield but since we roll with illegal tint on the sides I decided to not...
They're limited release. Black was only available for 2020 and 2023? If I remember correctly. If you want another color you'll have to buy used or get a different trim. No guarantee they'll come back out at all.
