There is one on the dealer lot near me with the same package. The Alpine trumps the HK. They tuck is listed with both, but it comes with the Alpine since it was ordered as an option. Stupid, but maybe they figured the HK was junk.
Would mind seeing some pictures of the 3.5” JBLs everyone seems to be using mounted. They look a lot bigger than the Alpine or HKs people have replaced.
I would venture to guess that all speakers found out of phase are probably the same speakers per HK and Alpine setup. Most likely done on purpose which blows me away since each amp has a DSP. 25yrs ago, okay, but no reason now.
You guys are right. Using that app, I found the top left dash out of phase and the left bottom door speaker. The top door speaker was in phase and so was the center channel. I have the HK. Must be that way for imaging and timing. I did not check them all. Just those four.
Crazy they would even...
I can’t find that app. It’s in the Apple App Store called “Speaker Pop”? I like the idea of this amp for verifying factory speaker wire out of the amp to ensure the OEM side is right.
It’s been awhile since I was in this stuff so I may have lost some knowledge. I think if you play a test tone like 1khz, use multi-meter on AC volts, that if in polarity the reading will be positive and if not the volts will read negative at the plug to the speaker (unhooked) or the amp...
Those stock 3.5’s must have very low sensitivity for the JBLs to be noticeably louder. I think the JBLs rated @2.83 are low. Thinking the Hertz with a 92db 1w/1m rating should be very noticeable even at 4ohms. That is very good for a small driver.
Might be worth putting lower sensitivity drivers in the corners and higher sensitivity driver in the middle to center the vocals in middle as they should be.
Not sure if the Alpine or HK has a true center channel or just the left and right paralleled in. Either way.
Image Dynamics and CDT...
Why are you guys doing 2-way and 3-way in the doors? Is the signal full range? Seems you would be pulling the sound stage low vs high with highs coming from your door. I would be looking at a 6x9 midrange/woofer keeping the upper midrange and highs up in the dash.
These do very well in car audio applications on stock systems. Very sensitive
