I don't have the onboard compressor, but do have Timber Groves. I opted to use manual inflation to avoid more complexity and a minor bit of weight. I fill up when I hitch up and am good to go -- PSI holds over several days.
Our Honda Pilot has about 1200 lbs of payload... but there's no way I'd ever hook up a TT to it v. a half-ton truck. Something seems to be lost in the payload debate... fundamentally a truck with body-on-frame and overall heavier duty components just seems more REASONABLE to tow with even if...
That's an amazingly high payload! My truck is 1781 payload... but after putting on running boards, tonneau, under seat storage, and I don't know what else... with me in it, it weights 5700lbs. So my effective payload is really closer to 1400 (7100-5700).
I'm a perpetual "gonna upgrade" guy...
Hi all, trying to figure out wheel load ratings and risk of overloading. I tow an 8K lb travel trailer with my 1500, my scaled truck weight is usually 7K lbs when towing, and I'm 400-500 lbs under the GAWR (4100 rear, 3900 front).
I'd like to change from my OEM wheels to the Black Rhino Alamo...
Great to know. There’s a shop nearby that does ProCharger and Whipple so I think I’ll see what they have to say.
Now...have to wrap my head around the price tag... that very likely will keep me stock. :-(

Hi all, thanks for the comments so far. I have the 5.7L non e-torque. We pull a 7K dry / 8K loaded 28' travel trailer. We mostly do a lot of camping during summer when the kids are out of school. This is the second summer we're going to pull to Colorado and back to see family... I'm just...
Anybody running a Procharger or similar super charger and towing heavy loads? I'm thinking about a Procharger instead of upgrading to a 2500 and a diesel. Curious to know if anybody has real world experience. Thanks!
I'm curious if you found an answer to your question. I'd like to upgrade my stock 180 amp (part no 4801769AD I believe) to a 220 amp (part no 68422277AB) and I'm not sure if it's a straight swap, or needs any coding etc. Did you get yours swapped?
A few times I’ve been going slowly down a slope, like a long driveway that’s a few hundred yards long, and I’ve set gear limit to 1.
The engine will rev to about 4000 rpm, then somehow slow back down to 2500 rpm or so, then go back up to 4000 rpm, and then cycle again.
I’m not pressing the...
Which rims did you go with? I’ve thought about upgrading from OEM but have realized that many rims only have 2100 or 2400 lbs rating...
I’m not sure what the OEM rims are but I’d guess they are grater than the axle rating.

My sister had a Honda Pilot with 1300 lbs payload... my brother-in-law has an F150 Platinum with 900 lbs payload... he pulled a 26’ TT and although I’m sure was overloaded on paper, there’s no way I’d try that with a Pilot. A truck just seems like it’s going to have more capability.

We’ve found that realistically we need to stop every 2-3 hours anyway to get the kids and dog out of the car... conveniently that’s about how often we have to fill up.

Thanks for the write-up! Great you got a good deal on the trailer. I totally agree that the 1500 is a great tow vehicle if you set it up right and are realistic about not driving 80 MPH up steep grades. I have the same truck setup and pull a Jayco 28BHS.
Can related to the gas drain... I...
What I wouldn’t (and don’t) do is throw a generator, firewood, coolers, bikes, kayaks etc in the truck bed, and take passengers, and pull that big of a trailer. Definitely overloaded if trying to haul and tow at the same time. I assume I’ll have more toys to haul at some point and will likely...
I’m towing 28’ with 33’ total length, 8000 lbs tongue weight around 1100. Big Horn with not many options which gives me 1700 lbs payload. I had to upgrade my WDH hitch to an Equalizer 1400 lbs and adjust it properly so it was returning weight to the front axle.
I think you could pull with your...
