I don't think there is any setting to disable remote tailgate release. Have you considered taking the remote FOB apart and disabling the button for for the tailgate. I haven't looked inside the remote but wouldn't think it would be too difficult to do.

For what it's worth, I just bought the 8 year/100K miles Max Care with $100 deductible for $2065 through Ziegler. Not sure why the price difference ( 8 year vs 6 year) for basically the same price.
