What's your obsession level with your 5th gen? Not compared to the loved ones in your life or other things that are obviously more important than a truck. But simply from a truck perspective, how obsessive are you?
I always enjoy TFLT video comparisons. In this case, it's just too subjective depending on what's most important to someone. For my money and as someone who rarely tows, I like the GM version, with Ram second and Ford third. I say that having only owned or even used the Ford tailgate step...
I know I just stand and stare at it sometimes just because it's so gorgeous. I've had a lot of new trucks, mostly F150s, and I've never had one I've been as smitten with as this one.
Also, @Samcham, are you pressing *and holding* it for a second? With Apple CarPlay, if you just press the VR button quickly, it will talk to Uconnect. You have to hold it for a second for it to switch to voice communications with Apple.
It's been a while, but I used to use Mothers Back to Black for cleaning up wax residue. It seemed to do a good job of removing the wax and returning the plastic trim to its more natural black color and condition.
When you say “connected”, do you mean via Bluetooth or a cable? Make sure you’re connected to Uconnect with a physical cable or you’re not using Android Auto. Your voice commands will otherwise only control the Uconnect system. Not sure how it would control the app on your phone unless Uconnect...
Which phone or OS? The contacts you see on your phone aren’t necessarily all the contacts you have. Sometimes you have duplicate contacts from different accounts that may have been carried over from previous devices and maybe even old, unused accounts. These may not be visible in your phone...
It's funny...I started a thread about the latest ratings about an hour and half before this one was revived. Coincidence? Not sure.
Confusing Consumer Reports ratings for Ram 1500
I can confirm this is 100% accurate. Did it last week and it took longer to get my screwdriver out of my toolbox and open all the packaging than it did to put the bracket and plate on.
Note that there are two different types of brackets. I had the same issue (a non-front-plate state) and called the dealer parts guy to get one. He asked for my vin to make sure I got the right one. Not sure the difference, but he said something about one-piece vs. two-piece. Glad I checked...
Yeah, forums are not representative of the overall buying public. It's generally where people go to obsess about every little detail, complain about things (many are legitimate to be sure), commiserate, get ideas, customize, detail, accessorize, modify, and generally share their enthusiasm...
Of course the manual recommends the use of their products, e.g. cleaning, conditioning, protectants, waxes, etc. Has anyone spent much time using them? If so, how do they compare with the good, aftermarket stuff? I'm sure there are better things out there, but are they a good value if you're...
You may be onto something. Is there anyone...and I mean ANYONE...who actually likes this system? It damned near gave me whiplash and caused simultaneous bowel evacuation 3-4 times before I disabled it.
Edited to add that it has apparently helped some. My sympathies to poster @highgear2005.
I don't do anything too dirty or muddy with my truck, so I prefer carpeted style floormats, just for looks, comfort, and ease of vacuuming and cleaning. (I say this even though I've owned Weathertechs, Huskys, and OEM all weather mats in the past.)
Has anyone ever tried these Lund floormats...
I agree that Uconnect is a great system. Based on their survey results, apparently users have reported comparatively more problems than others, which is why I assumed it had to do with the newest 12" screen. Again, just my assumption.
What's interesting is that vehicles today are generally...
I should add the following for clarification (pulled from CR's explanations on reliability):
"Models that score a are not necessarily unreliable, but have a higher rate of problems than the average model. Similarly, models that score are not necessarily problem-free, but had relatively few...
I'm a subscriber to CR, have been for years. It's not my ratings "bible" but I do find it generally interesting and informative. I regularly read their reviews and ratings on many products, but I especially watch the auto ratings, just out of morbid curiosity more than anything.
So I looked...
Same here. I let my truck sit several hours in the garage to cool down the tires, then went to level out all the tire pressures. As long as the key was inside the cabin and the ignition in the Run position, my TPMS readings would update as I added and released air from any of the tires. Did this...
If you go to the Mopar owner’s website, you can download the full Uconnect users guide. One should have also been provided with your truck if you bought it new. In the same packet as the owners manual and all the other included documentation.
