The problem with their spec is it’s not qualified. Is that measured from the ball, the jack pad, or the tow vehicle axle? Each has a different lever arm. I weighted my tongue with an (from jack pad) empty trailer, and it was ~560 lbs. Then I scaled the whole thing (still empty), dropped the...
That’s why I said to scale it. The scale is the ultimate truth teller. Properly set up, the wdh moves weight to the front of the truck, AND back on the trailer. If the TT is really 8300, I’m thinking his tongue weight isn’t 1100. Read my long post on towing near limits. It can be done. But...
Definitely scale it. With and without the trailer. Dial that wdh in. It’s it’s really 8300 (wet) you might be limited on capacity in the truck, but it’s capable of towing it safely.
Fwiw, the backup camera option does have a downside. Night time. Even after turning the brightness all the way down, having a 7” monitor constantly flashing headlights at you after dark gets annoying rather quick.
My biggest gripe is that even with the 7 pin, even after disabling the rear sensors, it doesn’t automatically engage tow/haul mode!! Grrrrr. And then, should you leave and not notice until you are underway and activate tow/haul, the blind spot thing doesn’t sense the trailer length without a...
My family and I have been planning a move out west for a couple of years. I always knew I was going to need a trailer as I wanted to move at least some of my stuff myself (motorcycle, tools, pew-pews, and some other things I’d rather not entrust to movers). We’d already made the decision NOT...
I used cheapie MOSTPLUS leds from amazon on my 2019 bighorn and in my wife’s vw. Less than $30 / pair and no problems. They made a world of difference in output on the bighorn and the housing is built such that it provides a good cut line and assuming your lights are properly aligned won’t...
Technically, this wasn’t today, but since Monday - 2328 of this miles! 190 to go, but presently parked on I40 waiting for the Arizona highway patrol to clear an accident several miles up the road. Truck has been flawless and very thirsty.
Pretty sure the truck is suppose to sag 1.5 to 2 inch, hence the rake. Properly configured you should be level. I’m still playing with mine, and my trailer is a car hauler, so weight can vary. 35lbs in the bags seems to be ideal, then configure the hitch. Scaling your rig loaded is the only...
Not true. Watch this:
The purpose of the wdh is to distribute the weight. They send some weight back to the front axle, keeping your steering and braking in the game. The bags just increase the spring rate to help stop the pogo effect of a heavy load. If you’re towing a heavy load you...
Ditto that! The backup cam makes all the difference in the world, but even then I have to adjust it down if I’m trying to place the trailer in a tight spot.
This is the camera I bought.

I have a 8.5x24 car hauler, and no tow mirrors. I put the extenders on, but it’s more for appearances, the normal mirrors work well and I’m not seeing behind me either way. The BLIS does work, displays an icon telling me I have a 30ft trailer, but I’ve noticed the BLIS needs to ‘see’ the...
You are the first post I’ve seen from anyone with the luyed lights. Now I wonder if it’s a content thing. My Laramie is level 1, you have level 2 and a quick scroll up the thread seem to show highly contented trucks (I have a hotspot too, but don’t plan on enabling it - wrong carrier)
You can spend $50-100, or you can spend $14. Totally up to you. 2 trucks, no problems. (Only cargo, leave the brake light alone!)

I needed a ‘beater’ car for commuting to work when I took a job that had a 60 mile round trip commute. I looked for a ‘reasonable’ compact car, my primary requirement being that it had a clutch pedal! 100k mile Subaru’s and Focus’s we’re going for 12-14k at the time (6 years ago). I found a...
