It's been well documented here and on other forums, the clunk is only present if you have medium to hard pressure on the brake pedal during the starting sequence. If you remove your foot from the brake the second you press start, you will not hear the single clunk. I for one believe this is not...
Yes, if you want control of tpms, stability controls, lights and camera controls and the list goes on. It's not the be-all-end-all of gadgets and has limitations... but most of us that purchased it are very happy with it.
Every time I've tried to "have fun" it's been mixed results before I got the Tazer DT. And when I say mixed results, I mean stability control would kick in to varying degrees of slide and wheelspin. With the Tazer it completely disables the safety features as if you pulled the fuse. Your dash...
Pulling the fuse or buying a Tazer DT are the only two ways I know of getting your "drift on" in a 5th Gen Ram. You can do a straight line smoke show, no problem, with just traction control off... but the second the rear starts to go sideways, stability control overrides the fun button.
@RamCares may be of some assistance.
Edit: Just to shed some light on this, FCA really holds their dealership shops with a tight leash when it comes to service and ordering parts. There is a complicated system that can hinder shops from providing timely services or getting parts and 5th Gen...
We should all be careful with our comments in this thread. The OP asked a very specific question and the answers that were directed to that question were clear, it is useful for towing.
Unless you have spent 3 years of, dozens of phone calls to FCA, dozens of trips to the dealer at 7am with a...
It's strongest advantage is towing. There is no better option, in my opinion, for level towing. You could upgrade a coil spring truck with rear bags as well... but with the integrated controls and all the ride height options you are better off with factory air ride. Hands down.
Unless you live...
As another Canadian customer burnt by the 4th Gen Air Ride Debacle I can easily suggest... do not buy a Ram with air ride in Canada.
You will regret it. Folks will try to convince you that the 5th Gen is a redesign and other fictitious rumors... it's your money.
Better safe than sorry.
I tend to agree with @jdmartin , a high quality OEM air filter, changed regularly, is probably the optimal choice if you aren't changing major components.
Correct, but he wants to do a burnout, not possible in 4x4. You can actually do a brakestand with just traction control off, as long as you keep the truck straight... otherwise stability control kicks in. That's without the Tazer... with the Tazer you can enter a drift competition if you so...
For what's its worth, I had to correct the toe in-out after two alignment attempts by my dealer... could be something in the geometry of the level spacers that the tech isn't compensating for. Everything else was fine, once I adjusted the toe its dead center and tracks straight as an arrow.
For...
Sadly the groaning/howling reverse brake issue is hard to replicate for the dealer... your best bet is to have the shop spray wash the rears and let it sit for a while. Then have the tech or service manager stand beside the truck and slowly back up and apply the brakes.
This worked for me and...
Yes, the brake pedal will advance too far, so they restrict it's movement with the cheapest little clamp. Sadly they have to also restrict the gas pedal to match and the metal sleeve is prone to rattle. If you have the recall done and you have any squeaks or rattles around your pedals, you'll...
That's luckily the cheapest thing you can brake on the truck. Don't sweat it. And yes, if you can lift a beer to your lips, you could've just ripped it off.
