If someone wants to compile the information/part #s for adding ACC for people that have a DASM from factory, I will add to the beginning of this thread in hopes to eliminate the same questions being asked/answered.
Not a lot of trials on 2500/3500s yet. In theory it can work. I don't think anyone has had the opportunity to test/develop it yet. I do know that it's different than the 1500. So while the 1500 is virtually plug and play at this point, the HD Rams would take some leg work first.
Based on what we have seen so far, you will have to replace your ABS Module and HCU for ACC - we are still waiting for someone to confirm that this is the procedure for trucks that came with FCW but not ACC. For lane assist, you should be able to enable the options and add the button on the dash...
To each their own... I could see someone being hesitant about it. The code hasn't been upstreamed yet for Ram - which will happen soon. Running this kind of development hardware does not worry me, especially since I know how the safety features work in both openpilot and Ram. The safety...
The harness is very simple to make. If you can make the one for the DASM, you can make the one for comma. I highly recommend it.
As for the FCW, I’ve had it go off on me before, but I have the emergency braking turned off, because I don’t want the truck slamming the brakes for me. It did that...
Awesome! Thrilled to have someone else complete this from scratch like I did. Check out comma.ai when you get the chance. My truck completely drives itself on interstates now. Very very nice to have.
I have already seen someone add this to their 1500. From what he told me, it has nothing to do with the BCM, he said the mirror and the CHMSL are direct connected. Not sure if this helps you at all.
Yes, definitely let me know if that is reversed, I double checked it before I wrote it up, but I could be wrong. Glad you figured it out.
I would also add that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to wrap the wires that go to the DASM in a heat shrink or good electrical tape job to cover them up. Since...
Awesome! Nice job. Now that you've finished the installation, is there anything that you think needs to be added, or wasn't clear enough in the original document? Sounds like you got through it relatively easily.
No need to take it into the dealer until the all warnings are off the dash, so if you have warnings, there are probably a few things missing. I'd start with the EPB warning light first. Allegedly there all that is required is an initialization. At the time of my installation, the alphaOBD ABS...
Really cool
Really cool you were able to get this to work! I've always wanted to add this, but personally have a hard time justifying it when I know I would only use it as a party trick...I will probably still end up adding it though...
Damn... kind of a bummer. Was really hoping it’d be a pretty easy upgrade for those with FCW. whenever You do get to it, it’s pretty easy to do. Just one additional piece to the puzzle. I do wonder if you were able to change your acc type (type of adaptive cruise) to ‘acc only’ in alpha if it’d...
did you run every calibration procedure available? Inlet valve, pilot valve, etc? I had a lot of codes when i did the abs module only swap and I literally just went through and ran everything I could in alpha.
This is from my conversation with Jimmy when I did the swap before doing the HCU:
