Can you measure the temperature coming out of the drivers side center vent when you have the AC on max cool with recirculate on? Do this while the vehicle is parked outside under a shaded area and temp is around 90 F.
What temp do you see? Thanks!
Another thing to take into consideration is the activity and speed of the condenser fan...
When the high heat index is present does the condenser fan go into high speed mode?
Usually when the temp/humidity increases to a certain point the condenser fan will speed up to help cooling ability
can...
Good point, although r1234yf is sensitive to accurate charge 2 oz is probably not enough to pose a serious challenge to
accurate cooling, it COULD, but I doubt it. Most mobile HVAC systems functioning correctly will naturally lose between .25 -.50 ounces per year, so I would guess that mfrs...
No dumb questions..It's good you brought it up though! ;)
r1234yf
This is the successor to widely used r134a.
I don't think that is the problem though since the characteristics of r1234yf and r134a are very similar and nearly the same in most aspects which shouldn't hurt efficiency in...
The amount of difference between the incorrect amount and the correct amount is UNlikely to be responsible for the vent temps issue, but possible depending on the software used for BCM.
Light grease won't last even if it works for a short time....best bet is to use a moly based heavy duty grease that could be applied with a
pencil style brush.
What's a shame is that Chrysler won't communicate openly with owners that are not satisfied with the 55-65 F vent temps in
90+ F ambient temps, and provide any explanation as to why this is how the system is set up to work...Their silence
indicates they are afraid of a class action lawsuit...
I'm really hoping that someone from Chrysler will comment on whether or not the BCM/HVAC module has a parameter which supplies an algorithm depending on which typical climate the vehicle is primarily used in such as the scenario I mentioned in my post regarding the VW Arteon with a facility in...
Why? It's one heck of a coincidence that the concerns many VW customers had mimic the RAM issue almost exactly.
Again the software coding for Body Control Modules today is done by outside vendors and it is possible that some options that are used by other car mfrs might not be by others, the...

I was just over on the VWVortex forums and I found an interesting aspect that is included in modern VW products. HVAC software which allows for different AC performance via the blend system and compressor! In the Arteon...

What's very beneficial is when qualified techs like this can actually back up our suspicions as to where the problem lies. I'm pretty certain that Chrysler knows they have either a design problem, a quality control issue, or both....I tend to believe it's more of a QC issue than the design. But...
Everyone knows that the auto repair business is probably one of the shadiest and unscrupulous industry in the country. Doesn't matter if it is chain, $tealership, or indy, seems like most of them are crooks, many of them are hacks, and many more are BOTH of those. ;):sneaky:
P.S. I worked in...
This isn't the likely culprit. Like others have said if they can clamp off the hoses to the heater core and get
an avg of 40 F vent temps or so and it STAYS constant, like many have said then it points to heat getting through
at the blend doors, ducting, ect.
There is NO way you can tell me...
You also have to wonder just how competent the dealers are. Wouldn't surprise me if most of the techs aren't properly trained to begin with and cause more damage trying to fix what was broken in the first place.
Sorry for your frustration!
True, but to some degree comfort without tangible scientific proof with actual vent temps and other information makes it easier for
Chrysler to blow off complaints and concerns.
Guys make sure that you buy a decent fast acting digital thermometer with a corded probe you can actually insert at least three inches into the vent ducting, it's the only way you are going to get a better idea of just what the larger picture is with everyones trucks. Everyone should post temps...
