Some do work at increasing octane ever so slightly but the $30+ boosters do work. Those will turn 93oct to 97-101 octance depending on how concentrated it is in your fuel. Honestly it's okay for a fun day at the track/strip or a nice joy ride but at that point just do a E20 blend. That'll safer...
I can't wait for my RHO, finally a good Raptor competitor without the need of the HellCat engine. I didn't want want the V8. It's more balanced now as well, they reduced the front weight by 180lbs, which is significant when jumping and running the trails.
They absolutely will be competitive, you can always go with an alcohol blended fuel such as E30. I ran thay blend in my BMW with a B58 and it made a significant difference. Obviously it was tuned for it BUT it's possible to push further. Especially with this engine, with all those forged internals.
I've had a 2JZ single turbo, a B58 pushing higher boost on the stock turbo, 94 Rx-7 13b-TT, eclipse GSX and a 240sx with a RB25, a Ram 1500 Ecodiesel. They were all turbocharged, pushing higher boost preasure and had ZERO issues. Not sure where you're getting information that a turbocharger is...
