That's certainly a better picture than what my SM told me (he said he's had folks on the backorder list for months; back to July or August). Fingers crossed. MGU sounded really angry when I started it this morning.
I think you misunderstand me. I'm not worried about the alternator failing--it is what it is. But on the other hand, sharing information helps decision making.
Even after it's used for the initial starting of the truck (at home, leaving work, wherever), the wear is still happening because it's tied via the belt to the spinning motor. If any thing the AS/S would help prolong the bearing's life.
Extended or not, if the alternator/generator goes south, you'll be in the same boat. Not sure it has any bearing (pun intended) on the parts reliability (or lack thereof in some cases).
My truck's alternator has started sounding angry, so I took it in to the dealership Friday. Good news is that it's under the 8/80 warranty (because the eTorque system is part of the power train), but the bad news is (according to the service manager) there are over 4,200 back orders for that...
Did you ever determine what was causing the squeak? Just in the past couple of days, my brakes have started a light squeal when the brakes are cold and I was thinking a pad replacement might be in order.
This thread has made me think I need to look at the pads before I order them.
So I installed these yesterday. My driver side tail light cracked a couple of years ago (thanks for opening your car door into it, Anonymous Person at Bell Bank Park in Queen Creek, AZ) and water got into it and shorted. At $700-ish dollars, the pair from Recon was less than half what I was...
Solved.
Shop noticed water had gotten into my LR tail light LED assembly (OEM). They disconnected the light, and everything works as designed. Plug it back in, the issues in the OP reappear.
I wouldn't have thought the tech would've disconnected the battery in the course of removing rusted bolts. Honest question: is disconnecting the battery part of the process?
Had my truck in the shop to replace two exhaust pipe flange bolts that had rusted and snapped (yep, it happened to me too). Driving it back to work from the shop, the Uconnect screen shut off, and the Driver Information Screen (between the tach and speedo) started rapidly flashing between...
Has anyone seen a list of periodic maintenance items and their intervals (how often)?
I don't have access to the maintenance manual, and would like to keep up on the maintenance so I can get my money's worth out of the rig.
Same here with my '21 eTorque. Took it in yesterday for the work, but the dealer told me there are 1,900 repair sets on backorder in the system. It's going to be a couple of months, he guesses.
An aside: why does a service department not confirm the parts are on hand before the customer...
Just to provide an update, yesterday I took the truck in to the local dealer for service. I had the lift gate latch alignment recall performed, had them check what I thought was the beginning of an exhaust leak, and the flashing recirc button. They couldn't replicate the flashing recirc, but...
How did I miss that when I looked through the manual?
In the paragraph above that one, it says this: "Recirculation may be unavailable (button on the touchscreen greyed out) if conditions exist that could create fogging on the inside of the windshield." (emphasis added)
I'll have to check to...
These seem at least plausible. I'll keep an eye on it.
This morning, I tried hitting the recirc button in several different configurations: with auto on, with defrost on, turning defrost on when recirc is already on, etc.; in every attempt, the recirc button stayed on and solid. I'm going to...
I thought that might be the issue as well, but I've tried it a couple of times with the defrost off (climate control set to AUTO) with the same result.
I'm wondering if the vent close servo(s) went bad.
I was stopped at a stop light this past weekend behind an older diesel truck that had bad exhaust fumes. I pushed the vent recirculation button and it flashed the yellow light a few times and refused to close the vents. Ambient air temperature was about 28F.
