Years of weathertech usage and I have never had a problem. When there is an issue with a design and they do an update, they even replace old mats free. I too am surprised by this thread. I did not realize so many people did not like them. All of the others pictured look good too. Truly an...
I would not worry about it too much. The engineering of the tailgate is solid. It provides additional utility. I doubt the costs of the corner braces are going to be significant, just something that is incidental to getting the additional utility. Like Ramboxes...incredibly useful, if you...
This. Tires are the biggest factor in the traction game. Better to have good tires and 2wd than 4wd and slicks. I have not used the Wildpeaks, but they look significantly better than the street tires on my 22s. Before winter, there will be a second set of rims with snow rated tires.
The frame is not reinforcement...it is what allows the tailgate to work. It actually swings with the tailgate when used conventionally. It acts as the striker plate for the barn doors when used in the dual function mode. It actually looks like the only changes to the truck are the corner...
The necessity of using 4wd on pavement in rain is questionable. It will not impact braking or hydroplaning performance, only traction under acceleration. An alternative is to reduce acceleration to match the weather conditions, which is easy with rain, but more difficult with snow and ice...
The braces are definitely not necessary for the tailgate itself. They are there because of a new force acting on the bedsides. The question is what engineering torture test was used to make them decide to add the braces.
That may be a bit of an overreaction. For my purposes, the corner braces will not be an issue. But they are definitely suspect as engineering bandaids. The more I think about it their only purpose can be to prevent the bedside from being pushed out by lateral force being placed on the...
The Z series is obviously the best looking, but we have CX classics and MX on two other trucks and they look good. They do not look bad. I am going with a CX because I need the side windows to open completely and Z will not do that. I think CX is probably cheaper too.
I like the Lomax, looks really clean. The only cover I ever had that would not leak was a Diamondback...and you could put an Atv on top of it. My last one was a BakFlip and it poured water through it. I need a cap for this truck, but if I did not, I would do Diamondback.
Thanks. The new truck gets to stay there until it goes in for clear bra and ceramic coating. Obviously, the other Ram has a much harder life. But a 5.9 Cummins with under 100k is hard to find so it snapped it up several years back.
Definitely want to get to the bottom of those front bed braces. Good to see you have them too so it clears up that they are part of the tailgate package. I did not remember seeing them on the auto show model, but they were all Rambox trucks.
Crap. I would do that swap in a heartbeat...but Illinois is a long way from Virginia. I like the black rims. I think Mopar sells them for $300 something each, so that may be in the future for the winter tires. I foresee a lack of traction with the tires that come on the Limited 22s.
This was a great deal too. I would have liked to have a lower sticker (no sunroof no 22”s) but like you know, the deals are on what they have. I would not fret over the surround view. I do not think you will miss it. Besides, at the price you paid, you would be in good shape for a trade in a...
I too could not turn down a good deal.
Limited with dual function tailgate stickered for $69735. Purchased for $52800 and the dealer installed the trailer brake controller which the truck was not ordered with for free.
My situation exactly. Not the truck I would have ordered, but when you can get $17k off, you compromise. I did not end of saving that much because I would have passed on the sunroof and bling wheels, which add up to a lot.
As far as the look, I agree. I hate the offset line. But I followed...
