    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Yeah, I was not 100% sure the tailgate was going to be important with the decked system, but it is awesome. Rather than having to lean over a tailgate to try to reach the back corners of the drawer, you can stand beside it when only one drawer is open. Extremely convenient.

    Do you like your MDS?

MDS is unobtrusive in this truck. In my wife's SRT Durango you certainly know it is happening. Of course, it is in MDS a lot more often because the 6.4 has excess horsepower. The 5.7 needs all 8 more often.

    '19 Multi-Functional Tailgate

Indeed they are here. I went in on the last Monday in June to pick a truck with big rebates. Chose a limited on the lot and told the dealer I would do the paperwork Saturday. On Thursday I saw they had a truck with a dual function tailgate on the website. Stopped in and it had just been...

    Price negotiated from MSRP

I agree. I am not saying it kills resale value of the truck that was bought at a discount. I am saying it is hard to sell used trucks on the lot if you are selling new trucks at the same price. I am sure a lot of trucks were traded in to add 56% new truck sales in June. Now they need a month...

    Price negotiated from MSRP

Rebating new trucks $20k off sticker is a great way to move end of year inventory but kills used truck value. I assume many dealers want breaks in the rebates so they can sell the trade-ins they have from selling deeply discounted new trucks. I bought my truck at the huge rebate, and there was...

    And flexing fenders.

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Yeah, visually you do not see this from a distance on my truck. I think the black blends. Besides, as I age, utility is king. I remember being younger saying I would never own a 4 door because they were visually unappealing. Same with toppers. Now, I have a 4 door truck and an ARE CX...

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

I bet those dastardly engineers at Ram put thinner fenders on the Ecodiesels to squeeze out more MPG.

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Okay, I watched this on my computer to get the video larger. I definitely do not believe he was flexing the fender. It is all optical change. #Flexgate Conspiracy

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

One would certainly assume so. But the current HD is using the old bed, right? Maybe it has to wait for the real redesign?

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

I think that may be the movement of the reflected tree in the fender based up camera angle or movement of the tree. I am not convinced he is denting the fender. But maybe they should add some corner braces to the front fenders too!

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Obviously they are structural, right? They are not for looks. The question is what force they are meant to counteract. If they are to counteract additional lateral force on the bedside by someone pushing out on the open doors, which would make the doors a huge lever, I would be comfortable...

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Corner brackets on the 2020s too, so they are here to stay. I guess I do not see them as a big deal. Certainly less intrusive than RamBox.

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

Someone guessed they are inside the RamBox? I have not seen one of those in person, so I do not know. Mine does not have RamBox, but the braces look like they would fit inside the width of those fenders. It makes sense why I do not remember seeing the braces on the auto show models...they...

    “Dual function” tailgate exists

There are no corner braces in the rear. Everything is factory. The rear has the metal mechanism which allows the tailgate to work. It is not fixed to the truck and does not add any rigidity. It is simply part of the mechanism which allows the tailgate to both work conventionally and swing...

    Price negotiated from MSRP

Looks like all of the local dealers pulled the huge discounts off the trucks today.
