It may be related to the deployable air dam. Many of us with newer build air suspension trucks are finding out we have deployable air dams now. When they made that change, did it change the valence?
I had this happen to me today after the ARE cap was installed. The topper guys did not know what happened. I am hoping by tomorrow morning the truck sorts itself out. I am uneasy relying on the overnight truck fairy but it worked for others...
It’s on. The brackets are off. The two cannot occupy the same space at the same time.
I firmly believe the cap will add whatever rigidity is necessary. But the issue needs to be addressed in the future.
This is not something new...heater core shutoffs have been installed for years. In fact, some modern cars are designed to isolate the heater core as part of the system. There is no adverse impact. To believe shutting off coolant flow through a hose could cause disaster would invalidate the...
If you have a dealer denying warranty for putting a heater core shutoff in line, find a new dealer. There is no adverse impact on the vehicle and, by law, they cannot deny warranty unless they can show the modification caused the failure.
Although my AC was good without the valve, I gave it a...
The valve should be an automotive 5/8” or something that can handle the coolant temperature. I know some are using PEX valves, I do not know what they are rated for, but coolant will reach 235 degrees when the engine is operating normally, 260 degrees if running hot.
The 5/8 hose should be...
I too inserted the shutoff valve today. I was not interested in scientific results, just seat of the pants feel. I was not unhappy with the AC performance before, but I could tell it was not up to the level of my other vehicles, or my father’s brand new Chevy 3500.
I installed the Four...
I agree with this. I am sure they were added out of an abundance of caution or because they did not take the time to test the long term impact of the new design, so they just added the braces.
This makes some sense. The lever created by the closed, but unlatched, door would put a new rotational force on the bedside. However, it is a brief force and the design of the braces is not optimized for that force. The best brace for resisting that force would have been from the bed floor to...
That is not what the engineer is saying at all. He says that, with a two piece tailgate, you lose torsional rigidity. That may be true...but it does not necessitate the braces. You lose torsion rigidity when a one piece tailgate is down and removed. I would argue down does little for...
This is interesting as it indicates that the brackets are for when the tailgate is closed. There is no structural support offered by the one piece tailgate when it is open, only stress. What does not make sense is that this comment would mean the brackets are necessary to drive with the...
I would feel comfortable removing them. In my estimation, the amount of force used to swing the doors out should be kept low anyways to prevent damage to the mechanism. I also think there is a lot of room for modifications to make the bracket work with accessories as they are plenty beefy.
My dealer installed free, parts and labor, when I bought the truck as I was not going to buy a truck without a trailer brake controller. I was going to order but had to buy off the lot to get the June discounts. Great dealer to work with as they threw in the parts and labor to get the sale.
The only thing that makes sense is they are there to resist the force when the doors are swung out. The additional lever acting longitudinally with the bedside is not much given the attachment point. However, I could see Ram worrying about the bedsides deforming if the barn doors are swung...
Illinois. My dealer received 3 and traded for another. They said only three dealers in the state received tailgate trucks because FCA doled out the limited supply to the top selling dealers. I put money down on mine the day it arrived. All 4 were sold on the June discounts.
