Man, this is pure gold. What you said about the difference between scars from overload vs defect vs lube failure vs improper install. I never would have thought of those things. I am going to bring that up when he tries to "show me what I did."
Thanks!!!
The normal SA was out sick and I got a call from someone filing in for her who said I was getting a complete axle assembly. When she came back and called me to tell me about the carrier bearings, I asked what the heck was actually being installed. She said the guy filling in for her was...
So the parts didn't arrive until today. They are telling me now that they aren't replacing the whole axle assembly. Just the carrier bearings. The SA also said the tech told her that my Airlift 1000 airbags would normally alter my warranty. But I guess they are going to "look the other way"...
Got an update late Friday afternoon. They are replacing the entire rear axle assembly on my truck. Supposed to start working on it today and they told me it would be done by the end of the day tomorrow.
Curious if this is the noise the OP heard with his truck.

Had a 2012 5.0 FX2 luxury package. Like others have said, the key pad. That's about it.
What I don't miss: having to get the slip yoke greased on the driveshaft every 12k miles and the squeaky tailgate.
Well, here we go again with the griding sound. Just 5k miles after having the diff fluid changed, the noise is starting again. Scheduled maintenace says to change rear diff fluid at 30k miles if towing frequently. I paid for the early diff fluid change at ~25k miles (close enough to 30k) back...
Well, it appears that my replacement rear window is now leaking. I noticed some dried streaks on the driver's side. There are no cracks and the leak is in a new location from where the original was leaking. I cleaned the glass last night and will keep a close eye on it.
Agree with you there. Weathertechs are pretty rigid. I think the Oedros are flexible enough, but like @mikeru82 I only access them a couple times a month maybe.
Yeah, the all-weather mat's gonna cover them up, but you just have to lift up the edge of the mat to access them. I have the Oedro mats from Amazon. They are equal in quality to Weathertech in my opinion.
Yeah, the drivetrain does just fine with my 7100lb TT too. Even though with the 3.21 gears it downshifts to 5th a lot and sometimes even to 4th on the highway. I still have the Dueler H/L Alenza's on my truck too. Air them up to 44 psi and they are still too squishy. Thinking of putting XL's...
Safelite is in the driveway right now replacing my windshield with OEM Ram's head logo glass. The technician seems to have done plenty of these before from what I watched him do before leaving him to his work. Fingers crossed, but I am optimistic it will be done right. I have used Safelite...
I drive about 50 miles on the interstate round trip every day to/from work. I had a 2012 F150 that I drove on the same route every day for about 2 years and not a single crack or chip. I've only had my RAM for 6 months and I already have two deep chips and one long crack right in my line of sight.
Got a call from Safelite on Tuesday. The rep told me what others have said on here about the OEM glass being on back-order and he canceled my 7/2/21 appointment.
I got another call just now from Safelite. A different rep told me the OEM ram's head logo glass was available and she scheduled me...
I'm supposed to have my windshield replaced 7/2/21 by Safelite. I used their website to setup the appointment and they had the disclaimer about the OEM glass being back-ordered. I clicked that I am not interested in aftermarket glass. I have not heard from anyone yet about my appointment...
