Regardless of gearing, 8-9K is probably the max you want to do with these 1500's for any long distances.
I recently towed a camper that was approx 8K lbs. Accelerating and stopping was excellent (this is where the gearing can matter). All fluid temps stayed within unloaded operating ranges...
If this does indeed solve your AC issues, can you post the work order info for the diagnosis and the fix? We need to guide our dealers through this process. Too many dealers are responding that either this is normal, or that it requires a TSB, which after performed, does not seem to solve the issue.
You ended up with Batman's truck.Wow
The gladiator is an awesome vehicle but I do a lot of HWY driving and the reporting roof howling at high speeds would be a dealbreaker.
The 3.21 is pretty underrated for towing (Check out post #165 for details). No one's arguing that 3.21's are better for towing, but you could argue that it's better for unloaded or light loads than the 3.92. It depends on what you prioritize.
3.92 wins at burnouts, excels if you are hooked to...
Can't speak for single zone climate, but for dual zone climate it likely appears to be a fault with the driver's side door in the HVAC that allows heat to bleed in. It's not closing fully. Driver's side for me is about 8-10 degrees warmer than passenger side. Passenger side I can get right...
Some additional findings. I still get the noise sometimes, even when I ensure that the truck is not resting on the transmission (ie, I'm about to park, press brake to stop, hold brake, engage park brake fully before shifting into park on the trans).
Next time you tow heavy like this, would you be willing to check your engine and trans temps and report back the highest they both reached during the tow?
There is a gauge readout for the center cluster that shows actual temp values for trans, engine, and oil.
For example, riding empty the...
All trucks have issues. I looked hard at Toyota also - I love the reliability reputation but the Tundra Payload made it virtually useless for any real work. (an option light SR5 was at ~1100 lbs payload).
I loved the hell out of my 12th Gen F150 but traded in partly because of over a dozen...
Yes there is another thread about this I'll see if I can find it.
You are correct in that early Level 2 Big Horns did not have the 112v outlets.
You could try to get compensation of some kind from the dealer due to this item not being offered on early builds, discrepancy with the website, etc...
Mine does it about 25% of starts.
Couple observations:
1) Never does it on a remote start (could holding the brake pedal for normal starts be part of the issue?)
2) Mine only clanks when engine is warm - contrary to others, I never have issue on a cold start
3) I have had it occur and not...
Was this your first half ton towing experience?
I towed up to 7000 lbs travel trailer with my F150 and will be towing about 7500 lbs with this Ram at the end of the month and be able to compare Ford to Ram.
