For people who have done this install, how tight to the truck do your steps sit when retracted? Mine are very even, but there is a pinkie-finger gap between the truck and the step when retracted on both sides. That seems fine to me, but I'm curious if that's nominal or not.
I was quoted locally for two different products, Ceramic Pro and Ceramic Lite, which are two different formulations. And two very different price points.
Yeah, that would have been easier I think. Even would have made the board installation easier as the step mounts kept moving while I was trying to get the t-nuts centered.
I finished installed the AMP Research power steps today on my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie, along with the manual override switch. I started at 9:30 and finished at 2:30, which included two trips to the parts store for a few things (a step-bit to install the switch, and a M8x1.25 thread die)...
I ran into an issue on the first step of installing. I removed the harness backet and removed the bracket from the part. I attached the replacement bracket to the part, but for the life of, I don't see a way to orient the cable harnesses and part to fit the hole alignment they want. Was...
I installed the Hellwig sway bar and was frankly surprised how much difference it made. I already thought the ride was pretty good, but body roll is far less pronounced now. A worthy (and simple) upgrade IMO.
Awsome. Build sheet says full size spare, and Ebay has a ton of single tires available in the right size. Only question, as you say, is whether it will fit with the shields.
Updated to new wheels and 295/70/18 tires. I believe my spare is 245/65/18.
That's a pretty big disparity between tires and spare (about 4" I think). Do I need to consider a cheap spare that is close to the same size, or am I good as is. The tire place is telling me I'm fine for short...
I have 34" and 3.21, no issues. I can't tell the difference, but I don't spend a lot of time dropping the hammer at stoplights either. Tows my 14' loaded cargo trailer up and down hills and through the snow just fine.
Yeah, that's basically what I did and that was effective enough that he was able to experience the issue to some degree. Enough to make a guess at the problem, but we'll see how it develops as more people have it checked out and we get more data.
this is close to what I am seeing as well, same setup. Larger tires haven't really changed that for me. But I'm not very far (only 600 miles on the truck so far) into it either.
I took mine in this morning. The truck was well warmed up (I can confirm the issue does not occur on a cold truck; at least not mine) and I was able to repro the issue myself. Rode around with the technician and while the conditions were not ideal for a "full" repro, he was able to experience...
