It is very easy to check, all GPS trackers had to be plugged in into OBD port. Dealer wires them straight to OBD port from backend. Just take 2 screws off that hold panel under steering wheel and pop panel out to expose OBD port and all wiires that going in and out of it.

GPS in phones does not need cellular service and one can always download offline maps of large area or destination of interest and have navigation this way without service.
May be a Dealer GPS trucker under the steering column that pluggen it into OBD port makes noise. Remove 2 screws and lower the panel to see what is behind it.

Idk, salt-base water softner works to my tasting. I have 200 ppm hardness from local water supply. Sure enough there is still some soap-water spots left after washing with soft water due to 60 psi high pressure limit set on water regulator but they all easily removed with microfiber towel.
