I've watched a few "How It's Made" style videos (available on YouTube) of the Sterling Heights plant. FCA made a huge investment in the plant for the production of the 5th gen, and if you watch the videos you'll see that a large percentage of the assembly process is automated. There are huge...
Unfortunately, with current technology, LED replacement bulbs are physically unable to reproduce the exact light output pattern that you get from a halogen bulb. Halogen reflector housings are designed with computer modeling specifically for a halogen filament. LED chips are flatter and wider...
If the truck was built with the 3.92 gears, the computer should be programmed correctly for them. It sounds like some sort of communication error between between the various computers, but that's just a guess. The dealer should be able to figure it out.
I assume this means you bought the truck with 3.21 gears and swapped in 3.92 yourself? If so, what programming - if any - did you perform to update the truck's computer? How long after the swap did this issue start occurring?
My first experience with the GMC buttons was in a rental late at night after my flight was delayed, and in a tight rental lot that required a 3-point turn to exit the space. I was not happy that day. Trying to figure out those buttons was the icing on the cake lol
I always assumed the engineers chose a rotary shift because it’s the simplest way to enable the auto park feature. I’ve used the knob in various rentals and it doesn’t take long to get used to.
I have a column shift in my ‘03 Explorer, and that’s honestly my favorite. Good place to rest your...
From the owner's manual, diesel fuel requirements section:
Biodiesel specific:
Remember that the motor is engineered for the type of diesel you'll be filling it up with. In my opinion any additives are mostly snake oil (with the exception of what's outlined above), but then again I'm not a...
Is the connector in your picture for the "Left Chassis Wiring" harness (no. 3 in this diagram)? If so, it doesn't look like there are different part numbers for with or without rear fog lamps. I ordered a Limited about two weeks ago now, so here's hoping that the conductors are present when I...
Could you please clarify? I assume you're talking about the 4-pin trailer wiring plug, which does not contain a wire switched with the fog lamps (nor does the 7-pin).
As I said, I don't like the look of the LED strip. I'll also reiterate that, if I do this mod, I would apply a smoke film to...
If you think you're going to lemon the vehicle out your best bet is research your state's requirements and/or contact a lawyer. There are specific requirements you must meet and clock may have already started ticking.
Sure, and it's a good alternative to my proposal. However, I was looking to utilize the factory wiring, lamps, and switch for a cleaner install. I've also never been a big fan of the tailgate LED strips. An LED strip would require additional wiring and an aftermarket button in the cab in...
I'm in the same boat. Ordered last week, hoping that employee pricing will stick around into the new year. Unfortunately, the fine print states that customer must take delivery by 1/4 to get the employee pricing deal (that's when the new financial quarter starts, i.e. we'll see new...
Yeah I don’t know what those other guys are going on about but an All-Terrain tire is not what you want. AT tires are loud and ride quality is not a design goal.
For the qualities you’re looking for, you should go with an all-season. Consumer Reports’ top recommendation is the Continental...
I should clarify - rear fogs shine red in color at a brightness similar to brake lamps. The intent is to make it easier for a vehicle behind you to see your vehicle in low visibility conditions.
Thanks! This is very helpful - I've updated my table. I didn't realize that the module was mostly reflector, with two LEDs per lamp for the fog function. These actually stand out a bit more than I had imagined - I'll probably apply a smoke film to the lamp modules when I go through this mod.
