Dropped my truck off this evening so the dealership can pull the rear seats out first thing in the morning before the "glass master" comes to replace the back window. I asked them to check the 3rd brake light as well since the last storm brought in quite a bit more water and soaked the...
I bet the odds are good that you have a suspect window with a 12/20 build date, unless they were working on a JIT (Just In Time) schedule with the window supplier. And even then, I'm not convinced it has been "fixed" with the post 11/26/20 window dates. Just keep a close eye out on the areas...
It's not just FCA, but I understand the frustration. My buddies have had Ford F150s and they are also experiencing failing back windows and leaking 3rd brake lights. The back windows on the F150s are shattering with no warning!
It took 7 years before my Gen 4 developed the 3rd brake light...
I called the parts manager today and he confirmed that the part they received from the other dealership had a manufacture date of March 2021, and they received the original order window this morning that also has a late March date. So they have two windows to choose from that should be the...
Today's damage from last night's rain while still waiting for my replacement window. I'm beginning to think I've got multiple water intrusion issues but the dealership stopped once they saw the window frame cracks and a small leak from there. I'm going to tell them to keep it until they find...
So if you have a Laramie with tinted glass, power window and defroster you will want the last part number shown that has all the options? The "clear tinted glass" description was a bit confusing, as it's either clear glass or tinted glass in my book.
I'm hoping it's that easy to check the part number and date code. I had a printed copy of the STAR case but I couldn't read the part numbers and when I asked the parts manager about it he wasn't happy I questioned him doing his job. I know we all get defensive when we are asked if we know what...
Well my glass is finally in but the glass man at my dealership is on vacation next week, so I'll have to wait another week before they swap it out. I just hope it's the correct "new" part number and not an old lot. They mentioned having to get it from another dealership instead of from the...
I think we've been waiting about the same amount of time for our replacement windows. My ETA keeps moving to the right, and my RAM CARES case manager won't even call me with any updates because I suppose there aren't any. The most frustrating part is seeing the plant running full out pumping...
Today was my original replacement window ETA, but no call yet from either the dealership or my Ram Cares case manager. I suspect no news isn't good news. Anyone else in the Atlanta parts depot region waiting on new glass?
5/4? I was told mine would be in on 4/5, which I thought was bad enough. It would be nice if they'll pull some inventory off the line and help the customers out instead of running three shifts at the plant pumping out as many trucks as they can, but I suppose they already have our money.
Hope you have better luck than I did. I was called last week and told my window was going to be in yesterday, but when I called the dealership today to ask about the appointment I was told the ETA was pushed back to early April, so they really have no idea when they'll get a replacement window...
Recalls are only for SAFETY issues, not frustrating quality defects. I'm waiting to see if the STAR case eventually leads to a TSB so all dealerships will have easier access to the info when folks bring their trucks in complaining about water leaks. It takes a bit of effort for them to find...
A bit of good news today.....My Ram Cares case worker called to say the dealership should be receiving my replacement window a week earlier than originally planned, so hopefully I'll be good to go next week. Fingers crossed this fixes the issue long term and not just until I'm out of warranty.
I guess it depends on the nature of the leak. It's not hard to miss some of these window frame cracks, and mine was so bad you cold pretty much see through it and watch the water come in. That's not to say my 3rd brake light isn't also leaking, but it's pretty clear my window will have to be...
I hear what you are saying but I'm telling you I was watching the water drip into my cab from the crack areas at an alarming rate during a recent storm. But you may be correct that that the issue goes beyond just the window and my 3rd brake light may also be leaking. However I have not noticed...
First storm has passed and my tape job was a complete failure. The water runs down the side roof drains which dump directly into the window channel on either side, and that's why so much water is leaking into the rear of the cab on mine. I tried sealing up all around the window but the water...
I got told today that my window was in but when they tried to install it they learned it was the wrong part, so they'll be ordering me another one. Funny thing is, they don't even have my truck. Head scratcher!
RAMcares informed me that inventory of the "old" windows was purged in November 2020, so any windows being sent to the dealerships for repair are from the latest and greatest supply. I guess time will tell if the issue has been resolved, but it's good to hear your repair has lasted 9 months...
