The Retrax tonneau covers roll up into a cannister, so it eats up part of the bed (easier to see in this picture). I am looking at doing just a drawer type toolbox underneath to fill in the dead space.

My dad has one in his laramie and loves it. He said it holds securely and it's far enough out of the way it doesn't interfere with driving, doesn't hit against his leg, etc.
This happened to me this morning, although not as extreme. My odometer ticked from 904 to 906. I tried to replicate it sitting in the garage, but could not. Like you said, a royal pain, but need to keep an eye on it every time I drive at this point. Need to try and get a video...
