Where in PHX did you get this done at? I live in south Chandler and usually use Earnhardt in Gilbert. That's where they "attempted" to fix my AC before the TSB was released.
Grill shutters are a possibility. Shut your truck off and quickly go to the front and listen. If it's the same noise, watch the grill shutters. Mine open up within a few seconds of shutting the truck off.
Mine shifts into 8th while in T/H mode. I was gonna lock out 8th because of the 2nd overdrive clutches, but the truck shifts into 8th and holds it fine. That is while it was towing a boat that weighs about 7000lb with trailer. 🤷♂️
Do all of the DT generation trucks have the moving front grill shutters? If so, then I can see why there isn't a "need" for a grill cover. It would only be needed to keep snow from stopping those up as the snow melts and freezes.
Well, when towing the boat back from Cali, we watched the range like a hawk. It's pretty accurate on my truck as we were getting 15mpg and said we had 45 miles left when we filled it up. Put 29gal in a 33gal tank. I'd say that is pretty close.
Yeah, I was very impressed. I haven't towed anything that big/heavy with this truck and wasn't expecting 15mpg. My 3500 Ram
Cummins would get about 14mpg towing my old boat, which was also a 23LSV. So, getting the same mpg was a pleasant surprise. Now, I will say, the 3500 towed it nicer since...
Drove from PHX to Bakersfield to pick up a buddy's new Malibu 23LSV boat. On the way over, averaged 75mph (we were in a bit of a hurry as it was a turn and burn trip) and got 25mpg hand calculated. My truck has 3.92 gears and the 33gal tank, so topped off tank when we got the boat. Made it all...
Why are you looking for an exhaust? The only option would be a section from the back pressure valve behind the SCR to the rear of the vehicle since exhaust from the valve forward can't be changed out. You wouldn't gain anything besides a lighter wallet.
I have NEVER heard of an SCR filter failure/buildup issue. So Platinum is a great marketing idea, but not sure why it is "needed". DPF on the other hand.....yeah, those can have issues.
To the OP, some of those big rig DEF pumps used to require a special magnet on the DEF nozzle in order to...
And another thing to think about, the PCV system feeds into the intake system, just before the turbo. So all the oil vapor from the motor is fed INTO to the turbo and through the intercooler. The Cummins motor has a huge filter under the valve cover that catches the oil vapor very well and only...
Mine is documented at the dealership as having poor performance and 50deg vent temps. Then they "attempted" a repair by filling the system to the exact recommended amount and it didn't change a damn thing......But, I'm not gonna be the first guinea pig that my dealership is getting in for this...
I changed out the factory fill at 2100 miles and it was about 3/4 of a quart low per the dipstick. Put in Total Quartz 9000 and have roughly 4k miles on it since the oil change. I've burned through almost a quart of the Total Quartz so far. It seems to have started to consume less oil now as the...
Yeah, I did that with my 2015 Ram 3500 after I calculated out DEF consumption a few times. So, now that I know roughly how many miles for 2.5gal of DEF on this truck, I'm gonna stop keeping record. There were just so many people on forums (Ram and Jeep) complaining about their DEF usage in the...
Welp, added 2.5 gal again today. Calculated out 2.6% DEF usage again!! Went 2318 miles this time, fuel usage is averaging 24mpg, which is 927mpg of DEF this time. Kinda surprising that DEF % usage was exactly the same, but glad it isn't drastically different.
A little update for this issue. Ever since I disconnected the IBS and charged the battery.....ZERO problems. The alternator ramps up charging as soon as I put the truck in drive instead of letting the voltage dip to 12.2v like I saw previously. When the alternator ramps back down when the...
I've personally NEVER heard of an SCR plugging up. It's usually a DPF that will clog up over time due to the ash accumulation.
I'm guessing the Peak is just good marketing.
Ummm....you might wanna look at what you wrote there, it is very wrong. DEF has NOTHING to do with the DPF. The DPF is up close to the turbo outlet/downpipe and uses diesel/high exhaust temps to do a regen.
The SCR filter (the one that uses the DEF) is further downstream in the exhaust. That's...
