I also have a small rooftop solar at my house. It generates only 50% the electricity in Jan vs July. Extrapolate this to utility solar generating plants and it seems like California will need people to cut their electric car driving during the winter. Expect the Northern states might have even...
I live in California where the electric situation is already so bad that the state runs TV ads asking people to minimize electric use between 4 and 7PM. This is their solution to provide "reliable" electricity. I suppose as electric vehicles become more popular they will extend their request to...
Here's a "Best wishes" from me. I bought the Longhorn because I loved the Mountain Brown interior. To me, the Limited and Longhorn were close enough in all other respects that I would have been thrilled with either model.
I love the air suspension ride. But, in full disclosure, I'm not...
BTW... On 1,000+ mile trips, I average 19-20 mpg when calculating using actual fill up data (not RAM meter). Maybe marginally better than V8. But hard to compare with others because of differ driving style, tires, load, even % ethanol, etc.
I have the V6 and agree with you. Power is perfectly adequate for all day cruising at 75+. But don't expect to tow much weight. Nor zip across the intersection. It works well for me and I like the slightly simpler maintenance and lower fuel octane.
Overall, I'm happy with my choice, but...
Hey SKNY,
Your dealer's reaction is very disappointing. Looking thru your previous posts, it seems you have reported this behavior multiple times before. The TSB reports the exact symptoms you are seeing and the fix isn't difficult. I hope your dealer is in more of a listening mood when you...
Excellent write up on your trade experience and insights about the new Ram.
One comment... initially I found the camera based rear view mirror odd as well. But after a couple if weeks I got to like it much more. It seems to give a great field of vision for what's going on behind me. Not sure if...
That looks like a pretty fancy 2005 Nissan sedan parked next to your truck. Hope you were careful not to mess up his top notch hand detail job by stirring up dust when you pulled out. 🤣
That is very obnoxious. A single message asking you one time is OK. Asking every time you start the truck is just nagging. Seems like marketeers are always finding new ways to destroy customer goodwill.
No doubt that Ford makes an excellent F150. But after owning my Longhorn for 1 year, I am very happy I made the decision to go Ram.
Welcome to the forum!
Looks great! I like chrome but I agree that my RAM could do with a tad less. Was tempted to buy the black option, but thought the $ were too much. May copy your tecchnique.
I've had my Ram for a little over 1 year. I like the Sirius Uconnect features enough to pay $50 per year if every feature were included (satellite music, remote start, tracking, etc.) Unfortunately they want a lot more. So I go without.
My life seems to be just fine anyway.
I believe cars have black boxes that record events under certain conditions, such as airbag deployment. Maybe also if the collision avoidance braking activated. If you are able to access the info, it might help piece together the order of events. Not as definitive as a dash cam, but may still...
This is brilliant! I always park 1/4 mile away from other cars and put up with eye rolling from my bride! I work hard to keep my truck looking nice and hate door dings from careless people. Love your solutuion! May help my marriage as well.
Congrats to you! Coming from Audis and Porsches, I was pleasanty surprised to find that not all oil changes cost $900. My RAM has been wonderful on runs to Home Depot and spectacular on all day drives. The waiting is hard, as you point out, but is definitely worth it!
Welcome aboard!
You are wise to run new wires. There is no guarantee that the RAM wires and connectors can handle the additional current of a heftier inverter. FWIW -- if you run the wire in a confined area or bundled with other wires, you need to derate its ampacity. If you aren't sure, there are plenty of...
I have the RamBoxes and love them. That said, I was disappointed with the AC Power socket. It's only 400W. My little AC hand held vacuum cleaner can't use it -- it draws 800W. Typical electric drills are around 900W. Circular saws are even more. 400W would work for an electric air pump...
Some thoughts on a couple of options, from a guy who owns one....
RamBox - The 1500 has great storage under the rear seat and under the floor -- hidden yet very easy to access. And you can easily buy a lock for the under floor storage if that is important to you. While I love my RamBoxes, you...
FWIW.... RAM has a payload/towing chart located at: https://www.ramtrucks.com/content/dam/fca-brands/na/ramtrucks/en_us/towing/Ram_LD_DT_Trailer-Tow-Weight-Chart_MY21_R1.pdf
Problem is, the chart is for a stripped RAM. For example, the line for my truck says a payload of 1,838 lbs, but the...
