For the car illiterate:
Fiat has had the unreliable reputation for ages. Chrysler has also had its demons in the US. But if you think Fortune 500 company culture can be changed in a matter of a decade or two when 2 large companies like this merge... have I got some land on the moon to sell...
hmm... I will be checking this on mine now grrrrrr
mine is a december build so at least it hasn't been sitting in rain since last summer? That's what I'm telling myself so I don't get too upset.
I said the exact same thing. I figured that they didnt put any OEM locktight on it or something, I have the rest of the warranty period to shake it loose again, if it happens again, I'll tell them to use the next strength up on the locktight scale.
my tin hat theory is that this is how...
Laramie with off road group here as well. I will be going to a dealership to compare to a non-offroad group now that you guys have pointed this out and I'm curious. We will see.
To update....
Mine was loose sway bar end links. It literally took longer for me to drop it off and pick it up than it did for them to fix it more than likely.
It be real or placebo effect but the truck is even driving a little more firm/controlled in a good way. If i liked this truck before...
ok yep. Then it must be the same as what I have then - the moment of truth is tomorrow morning. But yes, at first I would hear it only when turning in neighborhood roads, now it's all the time even when going straight with no steering input. REALLY have high hopes sway bar end links fix it...
awesome, going into the service dept in two days and I'm hoping it will be as easy as replacing those end links then. The rattling is definitely getting annoying and I have had it for only a few days
truck has a little over 700 miles on it now and now it's a noticeable rattle. Almost sounds like i have an empty little trailer hitched up and i'm driving it up a ****ty gravel road haha
really hoping this is the sway bar end links since it seems we could replicate the sound just by jumping on...
there's a windscreen that comes up at the very front so I don't think it matters on which side the roof went, either way it's in the "bubble" so to speak. Kind of like how a housefly can fly around a car while you're doing 80 mph on the highway, it's in the "bubble" so it doesn't matter where...
Yep! I have the same sound.
Does it sound almost like metal on metal banging (almost like when you have a small empty trailer hitched up?)
If so, I've gotten down to the bottom of mine and it's the sway bar end links. They are either loose or are missing a bushing or something so the link...
Not sure- but you're obviously still under warranty so even if there isn't a specific TSB for it, they can still do the fix. Get someone to sway your car side to side while you stare at your end links, you'll notice that the clank/clunk matches up perfectly with the times when the bar is hitting...
Mine is a Dec2018 build if I remember the paperwork correctly.
1500 laramie crew cab
4x4 off road package
6'4" bed (if that matters)
no air suspension
I have the clunk. Going to get it checked out in the next week or so but it seems like it may be the sway bar links if mine doesn't...
so mine sounds like when you have an empty small trailer hitched up. That's the kind of clanking sound I'm getting. Is this one way you guys would describe the sound you're talking about? it almost sounds like it's right below me but that it's on the outside on the underbelly
