    Oil Preference?

I’m talking about everything the labs equipment is capable of detecting in an oil sample; the additives used to formulate the oil, “wear” metals, contaminates such as fuel, water, antifreeze and insolubles(dirt), and maybe the most important factor in evaluating an oils remaining life, the TBN...

    Oil Preference?

I’m talking about the elements that make up the composition of the oil.

    Oil Preference?

And without an analysis showing what the TBN and TAN levels were after 6K you have no idea what the actual condition the oil was in other than it was black. That’s why I qualified my opinion that 12K is possible under certain conditions but ONLY if the user actively monitors the TBN and TAN...

    Oil Preference?

12K OCI would be very safe with the Hemi engine under the right conditions, such as predominantly highway driving and no real cold weather starts, towing etc and using a high quality oil. To safely go that distance the oils TBN and TAN levels would obviously have to be monitored by sampling and...

    Lifter tick on cold start

It’s been a really long week, the brain is a little fuzzy. And I agree about a bit of skepticism being useful, there’s so much misinformation out there about oil and filters it’s truly mind boggling.

    Lifter tick on cold start

I think you're agreeing with me.(?) And yes, I would say you're an extremely experienced owner and your experience over multiple vehicles is that the Mopar ADBV does exactly what it's designed to do.

    Lifter tick on cold start

His statement was that all Mopar filters allow oil to drain out of the filter on shutdown according to "experienced" owners, which isn't true. If all Mopar oil filters are defective then every engine they're used on will have problems, and that has to be in the millions across the country. I...

    Installed Du Ha storage box

Here's another discussion about the different underseat storage options. I love my Du-Ha, use it a lot. https://5thgenrams.com/community/threads/rear-under-seat-storage-aftermarket-options.2556/

    Floor Mat Recall

Took mine in to have the door panel replaced on the drivers side rear door, the factory put the wrong trim on it. They said they took care of the floor mat recall while it was there. As far as I can tell they did absolutely nothing to the mat, it looks exactly the same as it did before and the...

    Odd first warranty claim

I was finally notified by the dealership yesterday after two months that the panel was in. Thanks to Kaitlin and David from RamCares for helping out, I believe they helped speed things up. I was contacted by Kaitlin telling me the part was in and then by the dealership less than five minutes...

My First Oil Change - Some Notes for those interested in trying it themselves

An inexpensive oil analysis from labs like Blackstone, Polaris and others are really limited in determining how an engine is wearing because they only "see" particle in a certain size range. The primary metals that show up in these are copper and iron. Copper is almost always from the oil...

The rest of the trim is textured, the replacement panel is supposed to match.

Defective Mopar oil filter, lifter noise on startup

Mopar OEM MO-339 oil filters are far from "the best". They use cellulose filter media and nitrile ADBV's while better made filters like Fram Ultra and Wix XP use synthetic media, wire backing on the media and silicone ADBV's.
