Anyone know if *** comes on these SO or HO engines, and if so, can it be deleted permanently?
This lone factor may make me to keep my 20 and 21 longer.
I didn't experience any on the Wagoneer SO I drove, or barely noticeable.
my wife's CT4 blackwing has zero, zero, zero, like the pedal is connected to the road. Reminds me of my long gone GTO Judge Ram air III.
I am only comparing to show what modern turbo's are doing relative.
Now the HO...
Me either but I bought my first '20 Ram off the lot, and it just had to get close to what I wanted which was the 6-4 bed and v8-only. Color didn't matter, but I was like 'ohhh boy, white..........' But then I noticed this white was different with a lot of 'sparkle' is it called? I later...
Probably right Idahoktm. I have the white, and I just couldn't come to grips on the bumpers being white too, so I was Ok with the chrome.
It looks good to me, which is all that matters.
But we also have a newer grand cherokee that's black with very little chrome accents and I think it looks good.
It is my opinion that Ram came out with the 2025 way earlier than it should have because the e-torque only 2024 wasn't selling.
Gotta sell to eat. Well see if the I6TT sells. My guess it won't at first relative to if they just left the std v8 in it and paid the CAFE fines.
Hi Lonepeak, IMO you don't need either of the groups to do what you do. I do have the brake controller in both my 20 Laramie and 21 Limited and use it often for loads 4-5Klbs. My 21 has the tow-group but I never use it. You can just buy the brake controller by itself for $295. I haven't been...
Not me. Liked it from day one. I was discouraged by all the trucks grills getting massive. They looked cartoon'ish to me. I even told my gmc dealer friend re: a new denali front end: "how the hell do you expect me to take that on a sales call and/or job site?" He agreed, and I bought the...
hmmm, I missed some stuff, thanks, so I redid the laramie and when adding the e-steps it forces level 2 which jumps it to 75K, so you're right. can't find an option for the 33g on laramie, should be avail though cause I get the 6-4 bed.. while nice, i'm not in love with the e-steps and i...
For those that buy the way I do:
25 Laramie SO, air, ORG, level 1 = $72K
25 Limited HO, air, ORG = $80K
Both very similar spec out except SO vs HO. +$8K, however would lose approx $3-4 K at trade with Laramie vs Limited. So about $4K for the HO, maybe some other minimal stuff. Tough call.
Add rentals to the list. We rented one for 5-6 guys on a small road trip. ran it pretty hard just to see how she ran, which was pretty well. don't remember how many miles were on it at the time. But all liked the Wagoneer a lot, and all of us had our share of Burbs, Tahoes, Denali's...
I think you missed my point of lower energy vs new higher energy (turbo) engines. Certainly the hemi could go 200+, but again, I don't the newer higher energy engines will get there. I could be wrong. we will see.
as a comparison, the Hemi is 70HP/litre.
Since the Hurricane has been out in the Jeep for a little while, and I'm sure there's some limo companies using them, we should be over 100K miles use for some already, but doubt we will ever know, because they don't care about reporting, etc.... They will know first though.
a year from now...
Here's some numbers
Ct4 blackwing = 470hp/3.6L = 130HP/litre
Ram SO = 420HP/3.0 = 140HP/litre
Ram HO = 510HP/3.0 = 170HP/litre
KTM 250cc = 40HP/.25L = 160HP/litre
Will my wife's car go 150-200K miles without major maintenance/replacement? I doubt it, and not planning on getting there.
These new Hurricane engines are high boost. 22 max for SO, and 26psi for HO. These are relative high pressures, and why they have very stout components.
Will they go the distance? I don't know, but again doubt they are very high mileage engines, but I could be surprised.
My wife's CT4V...
I mostly agree with your assessment. I am from the rotating equipment world, and we refer to our equipment as low-energy and high-energy. There are very few low-energy pieces of equipment left, and if you want one, they are 4-6 times more expensive. Same thing has happened with our modern...
It is certainly spec'd well (per link above):
" forged crankshafts, forged pistons (in the high-output version), and a host of other features that would have been race engine fare a scant few years ago."
While I agree with most that it is a complex engine vs older engines, it's all we have. And...
I live in two places, '20 laramie, '21 limited, both v8-only (no e), long beds.
I don't like the e-thing (my choice). I generally replace 4-5 yrs, so my '20 will be due end of 24 or early 25, and I've yet to decide on the SO or HO hurricane. I drove a SO in a Wagoneer and it was very...
I drove a I6-SO in a Wagoneer last summer (rental), and we were impressed with it, loaded with 5 guys.
So I'm guessing they've been out a little while anyway.
It pulls like the 5.7, maybe a little faster, but super quiet compared to my '21 which sounds really good 'on-the-pipe'.
Never drove it...
