The Pelican guy is a great idea. Those cases rock. A lot depends on whether you want to dedicate the safe to only holding your Ruger (in which case he could create a somewhat typical pelican insert, just fitted to the inside of the safe), or whether you just want the walls of the safe lined...
I'm not near my truck, so can't take a picture just yet, but there's definitely room to add some thin, high density foam (I'm thinking 1/2 inch or 1/4 inch). If I can find a source of really good high density foam in sheets with adhesive backing, I may try cutting some panels to fit and...
They are more expensive (the Exxtreme version with the electronic lock is damn near $500), but WELL worth it. The MOPAR one is not as thick, not as well made, nor as secure (a friend of mine has the Mopar one, and I bought the Exxtreme Lock'er Down with the electronic lock. He now wants to get...
Seemingly not yet. I've been looking for the Ram Rack because it looks like a great way to carry some kayaks, but no hint of that existing at all. Very annoying!

I just installed the same console safe in my Rebel. Installed in less than ten minutes, and is rock solid and fits perfectly. Took longer to set the combination to one I liked and would remember than it did to install it in the truck. The video is quite helpful.
Thanks,

Installed the Lock'er Down console safe (the heavier duty one) in my Rebel. SUCH an easy install (even though it pained me to break off the plastic pieces that the little hinged separator clicks up into). Very simple install, and a very nice console safe. Well, well worth it.

I've found it to be an amazing cover, too. Do make sure you check the clamps after the first 50-100 miles, as they will definitely loosen up. After I re-tightened them that first time, they seem to be holding. If they loosen up again, I'm going to use some loctite on them.
B
I've had the same experience. The one time it failed to work was because of low fuel. Otherwise, although the app is cumbersome and it is slow, it definitely has worked (knock on wood).

Yep, looks to just be a normal boat cleat. Check out West Marine, they have tons of them. If you can't get to the backside of the mounting location, pick up some nutserts and a nutsert tool and put them in that way.
B
I started to do that, as well, but stopped because the sheet metal was deflecting. That's when I just drilled them (inadvertently drilling them out round since I didn't know the holes were hex under the sprayed in liner), then picked up a nutsert tool and put them in that way.
B
All excellent tips, especially that last one - the clamps loosen up pretty quickly. I may use some blue loctite on them to make them a bit less prone to loosen, while still permitting removal later if I want to take the cover off. That piece cries out for a bit of a redesign. If loctite...
Thanks for posting the pic. Interestingly, you don't have fuses in the large fuse spots just above 66, while I do (and they're big block fuses, not the micros that are everywhere else). They must have something to do with some option on the truck that I have that isn't on yours. Who knows.

Got the exhaust put on today. Borla Type S. Great growl, and although louder than I expected, I love it. I'm glad I didn't go with the louder ATAK though!
I tried to attach a video clip of a cold start with it, but it won't attach for some reason.
B
Sweet. I couldn't get them to seat all the way down because of the block fuses right above 66. Finally got the new power magic pro in to replace the DOA one, so early next week I'll be back under there rewiring it yet again.
B
I actually ended up using a different one for accessory power because the fuses located just above 66 (56, 57, 58) interfered with the fuse tap seating all the way into the slot for 66. I just poked around with a multimeter to test which ones were constant/ignition/accessory power and which...
No sweat.
I ordered two of them since I was installing the Blackvue Power Magic Pro (which turns the camera off when the truck is parked if the battery depletes to a particular voltage). Frustratingly, I wired it all up (it requires both accessory power and constant power), only to find that...
So if you're going to use fuse taps (add-a-circuit), then these are the right ones to order:
