Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

Coatings instead of liners have become standard practice. The upside is that with appropriate oil change intervals the blocks are increasingly durable and there is very little friction. The downside is that if something does happen in terms of internal damage, you are talking about sleeving...

    Fuel Range

Interesting. We have one with the smaller tank and it is higher. But we encourage the men to use a light foot.

    Fuel Range

On the standard size tank you can expect about a 350 mile range generally (assume 16mpg in local driving) and 400 or so if highway (about 20 mpg). Miles to empty is showing low because truck has probably been idling and or driven stop and go and so MPGs are artificially low.

Anyone ACTUALLY running 5w-30 or even 10w-30? Thoughts? Experience? Any REAL TRUTH to throwing a code running higher weight oil (no conjecture please)

Apologies then for posting something that attempted to give you a "no BS" viewpoint on what you are doing. Sometimes you actually need to read to learn. Good luck with your truck.

Anyone ACTUALLY running 5w-30 or even 10w-30? Thoughts? Experience? Any REAL TRUTH to throwing a code running higher weight oil (no conjecture please)

Use whatever oil you would like to use, it's your truck. But so long as your truck has sufficient oil pressure at hot idle and when driving generally, having surplus oil pressure is of no benefit to the motor. It does no harm either (unless excessive, and your figures are not excessive)...

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

Direct injection has been around long enough now that it falls into the category of it is what it is. It is not a risk specific to this motor, and all of the majors have plenty of experience with it. The additional risk is incremental but no worse than buying pretty much any other new vehicle...

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

I wonder if you are this rude in person - another internet tough guy. Sorry to hear you have had issues with your truck. All vehicles can have issues. Mine has been almost perfect in 35k miles/.

Anyone getting a 2025 with the I6 Hurricane?

I agree with this completely. While I really enjoy the 5.7, the only potential downside I can see with the turbo six is the greater complexity and potential for repair. That being said, I think Stellantis has a great deal of R&D dollars and reputation on the line with this motor - they are...

    transmission slip

I cannot say that I do. The transmission is not as smooth cold as it is when warm (exceptionally smooth) but this normal. Candidly, don't make the mistake of over-thinking this. If there is an issue with the transmission, there will be an error code that displays pretty quickly. ZF has had...

    transmission slip

ZF transmissions modify shift patterns when cold to warm the engine and catalytic converters more quickly. It is part of the design. Just drive easy when it is cold. I am very careful about not doing anything extreme until the transmission temp hits at least 100 degrees.

    Leasing experience?

To HSKR’s point, when the lease was up on our ‘20, the buyout was about $12-14k less than market value. Granted market was strange due to covid but we did well on the lease and were able to take a business deduction. People’s needs and views vary. Fwiw.

    Leasing experience?

In the fall of 2020, we did a little under 700 per month for a fully loaded Laramie. 12k per year. We paid sales tax up front as I suspected we would buy it and it would simplify the buyout in my state, Residual is not negotiable, it is set by the bank to ensure they are collateralized during...

2019 Limited leather dash bubbling/peeling question

I had a bad experience with a BMW with a leather covered dash years ago. They look very nice but they are, in my opinion, a bad idea and a real headache when they go bad. I eventually just had BMW put in the standard dash. If it were my truck and the leather dash went bad, I would have the...

    GM 5.3 litre...

GM sells hundreds of thousands of trucks and 5.3s, and generally does a very good job with V8s. I would be very hesitant to draw any conclusions based on n=1. Same thing as assuming lifters are a widespread issue on Chrysler V8s based on anecdotes here.

    Lifter Fail vintages

Did you buy a truck yet? If your forum name indicates you own an Audi, there is almost zero chance that anything could be as bad as an Audi once they are a few years old. If you are worried about Ram, then lease it and see what you think, as the truck will be under warranty the whole time...

Gear oil choices for 3.92 LSD

Use what is specified by Ram in the owne’s manual. Don’t over think it. If Amsoil has an equivalent that is fine but typically Amsoil is very expensive and while it is good oil, I can see no point in spending more when lubricants in the correct specification from any other oil company will be...

    Best Oil for Hemi "Tick"

Don't get me started about the bans on power equipment . . . . The cynical side of me says they want to ban ICEs and have us all reliant on batteries because range is shorter and then it is easier to control personal movement. Go to Europe, where socialism is predominant, like they want to do...

    Best Oil for Hemi "Tick"

The question "how will they know" is fair. Basically, if you have a serious engine issue while under warranty, and the truck is not serviced at a Ram dealer (so they have ready access to the service history), it is very likely they will ask for service invoices. The invoice will state the...

    Best Oil for Hemi "Tick"

Candidly, the graphic sums up only that you won't stop beating that poor animal until everyone agrees with you. If you were truly confident in your views, you'd put them out there for consideration and then let folks decide themselves. I've done enough racing, wrenching, and towing that I for...

    Best Oil for Hemi "Tick"

Is that a Tamiya Monster Beetle in your signature? I used to build Tamiya buggies when I was a kid in the 1980s! I think that led to me wanting to help build and race cars when I was an "adult." (My wife reminds me I still lack some level of maturity.)
