...how frequently do these things fail? Is this the kind of thing where I'm going to be replacing the radio every year or so? Because that is what it feels like.
No, I have not. I've just decided not to use Android Auto, now that my radio is fixed. Have some USB data blockers coming today, so that when I plug my phone in to recharge, the radio won't grab hold of it. If I want to use navigation on the phone for some reason, it will be without Android...
What causes them to fail so easily? I saw earlier in this thread it was shorted capacitors. Is it the heat? Is it somehow related to the chip shortage in 2020? I've never experienced failure-prone electronics before. Ever.
I should also correct. My ammeter read "zero", but then while the...

So I'm hoping that the repair to fix the amp draw will also fix the GPS...
For the onboard GPS (scenario #3), does the fact that the GPS system can't calibrate mean that I simply don't have GPS installed on the vehicle, or does it point to something broken?
I think I found the problem, will try tomorrow. This might be the solution for scenario 1:
"...go into google maps settings then Navigation settings then turn off play voice over bluetooth."
Hello, I don't know the best place for this thread, so putting it in General. I'm new to the 5th Gen RAM. I just traded up from a 2017 Sport to a 2020 Longhorn, and love it so far, except for this following conundrum for which there is no setup that works. And that is proper GPS...
