Too bad the main serpentine belt would interfere with the zip-tie trick.
The stretch belt's channel seems is a bit narrow for this suggested Lisle tool to seat properly. Would appreciate feedback from first-hand experience with this or other remove/install tools.
Ice buildup on wheels can cause some serious vibrations. You should've stopped immediately and dug the ice out of the wheels. Is it possible wheel alignment was thrown off balance? I assume your mechanic friend did check for any hub play, rotor warp, brake caliber clearance, wheel holes/studs...
Update:
Just picked up my truck from the dealer awaiting parts which are 4 weeks out. Diagnosis was "Found SCCM Fault Part Ordered". This would be the Steering Column Control Module, which I assume, for the RAM 1500, is the same thing as the clockspring.
They also diagnosed a non-functioning...
It was packaged with the Longhorn Level 1 Equipment Group (HUD, Adaptive cruise, Digital Rearview, Blind spot, Power running boards, updated audio, Surround view cameras, Sprayed bed, Wireless charging). Can be had in other trims with various packagings.
Basically, it displays a live image on...
About the only concern is the diminishing warranty duration. Heads up on Costco's battery warranty. They recently switched to a 3-year pro-rated warranty. Found out last month when I replaced my Interstate battery for a full refund after 13 months based on the old warranty.
One little upgrade I would suggest is a rubber bed mat to cut down on shifting and banging loads. With the Dee Zee DZ77015 mat I have back there, my unsecured ice box wouldn't budge even when empty unless I brake hard.
I find I'm appreciating the auto running boards much more than I expected...
I have the MX4 and the cargo management with no interference between the two during install or operation. When fully up, rearview mirror is useless. Luckily, I have the digital rearview mirror which I flick on in these situations. Its camera is not obstructed by the raised MX4. Not sure about...
Interesting question. On two occasions my Longhorn went in limp mode where the truck wouldn't accelerate but rather would apply moderate slow-pulsating braking as I start to roll out of the parking lot. Similar to how it would behave if trying to accelerate with 4WD LO engaged. First time it...
I installed Mobil1 M1-113A oil filter for my 5.7L HEMI back in June (1st oil change). Added the self-service on the My Mopar portal for record keeping, and kept the oil/filter receipt for good measure.
Years ago I invested in a floor jack, jack stands and some tools and taught myself to...
I opted for the Longhorn (2023) over the Limited for one reason: The air suspension cannot be deleted from the Limited. My garage is too small for the RAM and everything I read about the air suspension suggests its aversion to northern climates.
I think the Limited or Longhorn will age much...
Same here. Drove me nuts with the tall grass hedging my driveway when I back out of my tight parking spot. However, I just turned off the dash button. I didn't realize I can keep it on and adjust a uConnect setting instead to keep the sensor warnings on with no auto braking.
Another related...
Same here. Near decent engine braking going downhill without engaging the TH mode or the gear-limiter. My two other vehicles ('15 Subaru Outback and '15 Toyota Sienna) will simply runaway at any downhill grade without active gear control on my part.
Regarding my comment on the Start/Stop issue: While I was scheduling my RAM for a service visit just now, the following TSB was flashed at me:
08A - 22-23 DT PCM CALIBRATION which relates to "During an Engine Stop/Start(ESS) event, the auto start fails and the Auto Park engages. - Transmission...
Same here with the 18.2.4. Sometimes I have to try three times to get my PIN code in. I will definitely update to the new firmware. My steering wheel's left brain is dead, however, (all left buttons and their night-time backlights are dead, as well as all behind the wheel buttons on both sides)...
I think you're on to something. I do get the occasional rough cold start after sitting overnight, even stalling at times after the first crank. Nothing to do with ambient temperature. Now I'm convinced it only happens when the tank is near empty. 33-gallon tank, short commutes, high-octane diet.
Any updates? I'm having the same issue with my 2023 1500 Longhorn for a couple of weeks now. Buttons at left and back of wheel inoperative. Horn, Cruise, Gear Limiter OK.
It's a bummer as I cannot access my Tazer DT without an active Left button on the left side of the wheel.
Yes... to be sure, I was referring to the gas tank skid plate. I opted against it because it shaves 3 inches off the ground clearance in that area according to the video below. The other OEM skid plates and the Skeerdy Cat skid plate sit much more flushed to the frame rails and crossmembers.
