I agree 100% (or maybe 99%) as I don't feel their reason has to line up with mine. Just giving my opinion similar to when people give their opinion on which tire, air filter or WDH is best. They are all opinions and open for discussion. Everyone is free to make up their own mind.
No disrespect to anyone but.......if you question brake pad costs, mpg, insurance or anything else for these cars (Hellcat, TRX, Trackhawk, etc) and THAT is going to make/break you from buying the car then you are purchasing this car for the wrong reasons, and should shop elsewhere...
I put air bags on my 3500 and installed the fill hose at the license plate bolt. Worked perfect. They not only help with leveling but also helps with porpoising. WDH will do most of the leveling. IMO a properly WDH and air bags are a must when pulling close to limits.
Tried ordering from Koon's in VA. They said I need to go on long waiting list as their 8 allocated ones were sold. Tried a local dealer who said yes but the order specialist/salesman is only in during the week. Still waiting for that call back...days later. May just wait till next year...
Contacted Koon's RAM down in VA where I purchased 2 vehicles from in the last 3 years and was told their 8 allocated TRX's were spoken for and I'd have to go on a long waiting list to get one on order. Koon's is a very large dealer so I'm afraid to ask if a smaller dealer would even have...
I don't believe you can legally (or really want to) add a gas external tank. Diesel - sure but not gas.
Curious what others suggest, and what the law is specifically,
Watch a video of the Raptor and TRX hitting the bumps and you can see how much better the TRX is composed over the bumps. RAM did an awesome job with this one especially the upgraded axles, suspension, and frame redesigns. Not just a shoe-horned hellcat motor in the 1500. Its technically a...
I agree. mpg will be awful. I had a 2018 trackhawk that did 50 50 city highway and averaged 9.8 over many tanks (hand calc) over 4k+ miles. sold at 4900 miles. Never once did I complain when filling up with 93 octane as it was all about smiles per gallon. cant imagine something bigger...
HAHA. True.
I burned through a few Jetta Diesels for commuting when I had a long commute, and all were tuned with exhaust. Awesome cars. In my young and dumb years I towed a 89 Chevy S10 blazer to NJ from George on a tow dolly with the Jetta Diesel Wagon. I thought I could tow anything...
20 for the 3.0 eco diesel ... maybe but not the 6.7 cummins. I averaged 14 overall (not towing) and 10ish towing 16k fifth with my 3500 DRW diesel. Can't imagine what a gasser 2500/3500 would get towing that. LOL
It is not so much about the mileage but the towing experience. I towed the...
I think the question should be do you want a TRX looking truck or a TRX functional truck. I don't know many people who would buy or build a $80k+ vehicle and beat the crap out of it in the back trails. Not saying people don't but its far and few between. Most are pavement/garage queens.
Ok..let me rephrase. You have more gears to play with driving the same speed. For example. with the 3.21 you will likely be stuck in 5 or 6 while cruising on the highway. At same speed with 3.92 you will be in 6 to 7. Gears are closer together and you have 'more gears'. Why do you think...
The gear set in the front axle is friction welded to the carrier. You would need to replace the gears (obviously) and the carrier. Probably adds $400 - $500 to the cost.
Personally, I would sell the truck for one that is equipped better for towing if you tow near limits and/or frequently...
Yes - you do get more gears. Sometimes it's easier to understand if you take it to an extreme. If you only had 3 gears you'd have to spin the motor way up to allow it to shift to the next gear and you'd be very low in RPM's when doing so. If you had 13 speeds you'd have more gears to shift...
