I agree with seeing about the previous owners maintenance just to cover your bases. If it’s a 2022 (non classic) then it will have the 3rd gen engine as I’m sure you know, they haven’t had to detune it or anything crazy, however there are two engine related recalls that could apply to that...
An early oil change is a great idea to get any break in material from the new parts out of there, and stick to a good interval of oil changes. So long as your oil filter was doing its job and caught all the metal from the dead cam I wouldn't be too worried. That having been said I'm not familiar...
Greetings from a fellow New Jersey Ram owner! I'll be looking forward to seeing your new blue Rebel this fall on the Garden State Parkway!
Mine was ordered on 12/1/20 and it came in 3/29/21 so yeah, that doesn't sound too far off. Mine was in "built, but waiting for additional options" phase...
Glad it was a nice and calm trip. These little diesels sure are torquey! Every time I’ve had a trailer behind mine I’ve been very impressed with how well it handles the weight.
Another thing to maybe check out is the idle air control valve. Could be stuck up with carbon, or simply malfunctioning. Works similar to a throttle flap on a gas engine, and I do believe these engines have one. But feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
That code makes me think you have a blockage somewhere in your fuel system. I'd wager maybe some dirt or debris in your fuel tank jamming up the fuel pickup. I've seen this on trucks, tractors, and generators. Sometimes when running for a while the suction of the lift pump will pick up some...
If you DIY it you can save a few hundred bones, and still have the peace of mind that you've got fresh fluid in there. The filter/pan is the most expensive part of the whole job at 2-300.
Not to belittle the issue, but definitely test your battery. These modern vehicles do a whole mess of goofy things when the battery is low. I'd start with testing the battery and checking your battery cables, grounds, and the wire going to your starter. As well check your major fuses and make...
Zero worries friend, that's just what I have written down in my little service notes I keep for the truck. Not for nothing but no ones perfect, and I could certainly be wrong!
And @KGWhip I hope you can get that bearing situation sorted out in short order!
Oh, I'm not assuming it was low. Those are just rounded numbers. I refilled with bags not bottles, so I'm sure I lost some fluid somewhere in the bags when refilling. But yes, my current fluid level is just beneath the level of the fill plug. :)
I normally work on turf, agricultural, and...
My 2021 had about 2.5 quarts in it from the factory and took about 2.75 quarts to fully fill back up when I changed the fluid. Anything less than full could cause premature wear I’m sure but losing any rear end component at that low of mileage is still disappointing. Though it’s not unheard of.
I've never had this issue with either of my Rams, but I had it with one of my Chevys. The electric solenoid/motor that shifts the gears in the transfer case had burned up. If my Ram gave me this issue, that's where I would start based on my past experience.
However, I'm sure someone with more...
Is there a large tuning market for the Hemi? Perhaps a well known shop could do the gasser equivalent of a GDE tune for your Hemi to give you some safer and more reliable "pep in your truck's step?" Still hate to hear of a dead truck in the road situation like yours, and am very glad you handled...
