You will definitely need spacers to mount over the cables that go to the door mechanism on the MFT itself. Even my split bar needed a spacer on the driver's side bar. I was able to mount the clips at the edges with no spacing issues and the bars themselves are kinda pliable.
Yeah I would also suggest a 45 degree brace. Should give enough clearance for most covers and should help stiffen up the entire frame of the bed similar to the stock brackets, just not as big/bulky.
To be fair, I believe this issue only happens if you have the LED tail lights. I could be wrong, but I have yet to install the TaT modules (work is kicking my ***, atm).
^^ This. I just ordered some Recon LED bed lights and will hook it up to the super dim OEM bed lights directly so it operates off the single switch and whatever power source it's using. Here's what I bought: https://gorecon.com/product/universal-bed-rail-high-power-led-light-kit-in-white/...
I wonder if I can get the clamp mechanism on the stock/OEM cover to somehow work with my Lomax cover.... it would make for a very interesting Frankenstein cover....
It's definitely nice to be able to reach deeper into the bed to pull things out and you get the bed step as well which definitely helps with climbing onto the bed. If you don't plan on hauling or loading your bed often, it may not be worth it but I have all my kids' baseball gear back there and...
Ok perfect, I have those modules and will probably install sometime this week. What awg did you use to wire? I believe the harness wires are 16awg or 18awg but the wires and butt connectors on the TaT modules are 22awg...
Are you saying that if I just tap the turns and tap the turns for the lightbar, then I'd lose brakes on the lightbar? Because the lightbar only has one input wire for both turns and brake?
Question, did you tap just the turn signals first or did you have to tap both turn and brakes? Wouldn't the brakes on the Putco get its signal direct from the harness? I guess now that I think about it, not sure why you would need to tap both the turn and the brakes...?
Apparently, California feels if you mess with the PCV then it's considered illegal and will fail emissions. I'm not too worried, though as I won't need a smog check for at least another 2 years or so. If I still have the truck, then I'll just remove the lines and put back the stock PCV line...
Added the Mishimoto oil catch can today. Even though I'll have to take it off for it to pass smog/emissions check when the time comes, if I still have the truck (I probably won't).
There are YT videos on swapping headlights. It really isn't that difficult, actually. The wiring part might be a bit more involved if going from halogens to LEDs.
