Just a friendly reminder, dealers are not your friends. They have one job, make the maximum amount of money per transaction. You may be friendly with a salesman, but that person has a boss and they care about one thing, the bottom line. I hope this helps people when they go to negotiate. Too...
I’ve noticed this as well. Very few truck in SoCal have the 3.92, let alone packaged with the bigger gas tank. I can only imagine any well packaged truck sells very quickly. I’ve seen no Night Editions or BTS in months. The trucks on lot are “1quick order” max dealer profit trucks, meaning they...
There is nothing wrong with the big horn, honestly I felt better getting the fully loaded bighorn because I think getting leather in a truck is a bad idea long term in my case. If I was just going to keep it for a few years, then I would have gone with the Laramie. I liked the Laramie, very...
This thread has gotten a bit quite with the truck shortage getting worse. I see people getting insane offers for trade in, but no way to replace the truck with anything that could considered a deal. I’m just happy I bought when I did because I have no idea when things are going to settle down.
This thread stayed pretty civil, this topic usually gets people pretty fired up. I’m going to throw my two cents in.
Your first oil change shouldn’t be done early. I learned this from my neighbor who was a master mechanic for GM. I changed my oil as a teenager on my moms new car at 3k miles and...
The Chrysler rates are terrible. 4-5% is what they offer. I went to my credit union 2.99% and let FCA keep their $500. The issue is that the FCA financial arm is Santander, a subprime lender. They offer higher rates because people buying these trucks have bad credit or are ignorant to what a...
Agreed, Laramie has room, another 2k, 3k if you negotiate hard. The BIGHORN maybe another 1k if they are motivated to sell. The big question is leather, in my case I hated leather with my last truck. I would only go with the premium cloth though.
The exceptional deals of 2020 have passed. The real winners from the Covid deals were people with no trade. Trades took such a hit that the savings on the new truck were wiped out by the drop in trade prices. I would expect no more than 20-25% on any remaining 2020’s due to tight supply. As long...
Maybe I just came on the right day. I got 13k off my night edition bighorn a month ago. I always wait until I get to finance to force a little more out of them or at least get something for free.
Play hard ball, let the deal get to the finance department and then “change your mind”. There’s still a few thousand dollars of wiggle room on this one.
It’s really tough to get 20% off anything but the Bighorn. During the worst of the pandemic you could have, but not so much now. The truck you are looking at has too many a la carte options that make it cost more than a truck with value packaging. I figure that’s why it hasn’t sold. The most you...
Did the same on our Tundra to get into our Ram a month ago. My wife crashed our 2018 Tundra Platinum one month into the lease. She hit a pole coming around a corner in a parking lot. Just so everyone knows the accident avoidance system doesn’t avoid polls. It turned out costing us about $8000 in...
A note to anyone looking for 2020’s, if your deal is close, take it. The 2020’s (good packages) are going to be gone early this year. There are a lot of bad 2020 packages, ie ones that have options added a la carte versus in value savings packages. You will always save more with the packaged trucks.
I’ve found it strange that the discounts on the higher trims are lower than the lower trims because usually it’s the opposite. Obviously it has to do with demand and people willing to pay closer to MSRP for a full boat. It’s just odd to me, I can’t see paying so much more for bells and whistles...
To me it sounds like material (machining etc) got caught in the oil pump starving the engine of oil. When it was shut off for awhile the piece(s) fell away from the oil pick up. It will likely happen again. I’ve heard of this happening on new engines in general, although rare.
Here in SoCal California the BTS is a hot commodity and they will not cut a deal on them because people are willing to pay. There was one near me that we considered, but we went with a loaded Bighorn instead because of price. Also the BTS did not have the blind spot monitoring which is a must...
