5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

You are correct. Remove the ANC and tap the incoming radio inputs. That should fix your issue.

    Mopar Console Safe

I'd love to see a picture of this installed. I emailed and asked for one but haven't heard back. Anyone have one?

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

I haven't found a constant equalizer setting I am happy with yet. It depends on the volume. I'll try and take some time this week to work on the tuning. I'm looking for the same info you are at this point ;) I did up the levels of the door woofers over the 3.5 and tweeters (passive crossover)...

    Stock stereo - any reviews?

Yes, front and rear are the same 6x9 speaker. I'm not sure what they are rated ohm-wise.

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

I'm not sure on the 6x9s. I thought they were 4, but now I"m not sure why I thought that. My sound is really bright. I've wondered if the radio is programmed to balance for those 2 ohms. I can get the sound good at any given level by adjusting levels (the on screen equalizer does a decent...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

The dash 3.5s are 8 ohm in the stock 6 speaker layout. I wonder if the 9 and 19 systems also use 8's... I'm really curious to see how and where others install deadening. That's my next project.

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

I had the 6.5s. I would have gone 6x9 otherwise. And the mounting looks fine in there, shouldn't be a problem with standard door speakers. And plenty of depth on the dash. I mounted a tweeter to my dash. I'm not sure if this will be the final resting place for my tweeters, still trying to get a...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

My upgrade made a massive difference. No comparison. But that's with an amp and DSP in the mix. I wondered the same thing about swapping speakers (cheaper, easier). I think there is potential there, but without actually doing it, it’s hard to say. I knew a speaker swap would give me what I...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

That's exactly what I have. 8.4 w/nav. It's not the same as the others whe. U have a 6 speaker system. I thought it would be... And wish it had been.

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

You'd have to do some sort of update to the radio, if it's even possible. The 6 speaker system sends speaker level signals (amplified). The other ones send pre-amped signals. There is also a lot of activity on the canbus on the upgraded systems that the 6 speaker does not have. If you couldn't...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

Yes. But you are dealing with Speaker not line level signals with the 6 speaker system. Chermanns79: The hard part for me was a defective DSR1 and the signals were not what I had been told. Now that I know what's up, it's not so bad. I'm still trying to balance the sound but I think that is...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

You have high level (speaker level) inputs going in and out of the ANC. You can tap either side, but ideally I think it's best to remove the ANC and tap the speakers there. It would be nice if we could keep the ANC active, but when you add new speakers it throws off the calibration--especially...

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

Did they bypass or disable the active noise cancellation? The ANC amp is under the drivers seat. I removed it completely in my install and no problems.

    Dash speakers

Yes, 4 ohm. I still am not satisfied with the tune yet though. It's a bit bright and the imaging isn't where I want it. I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet...

    Towed over the weekend

I towed a new toy hauler home 1600 miles over the weekend. No toy in the back, probably came in at about 3500-4000 lbs. Don't know the hitch weight but was surprised how far the truck dropped when I mated them. I'm def gonna add the Timbren DR1500DQ air bags suggested in this thread. My Anderson...

    Dash speakers

Regarding 8 ohm, I don't know on the Alpine... mine was just standard.

    Dash speakers

Mine were easy... at least the speakers (I did a lot more than just speakers). To remove the dash speakers, pop up the covers (they snap off), remove two screws, unhook the harness. Snap in the new speakers to the harness (or cut it off and connect them), drop new speakers in. You may or may not...

    Tow Mirrors, power folding option?

I'm still way pissed about this whole thing. It says right on my sticker, power mirrors... etc. How hard would it have been to write a routine for the sticker that automatically removed the items that are cancelled out by other packages? ...not hard at all. Yeah, lame lame lame.

5th Gen Stock Stereo Upgrade Options?

My system is working pretty good now. I need to do some sound deadening in the back and doors, but other than that I am pretty happy with it. I still have some tuning to do with the 3.5s in the dash, but the Hybrid Unity 3.5s dropped right in no problem. Still haven't decided on final placement...

Climate Control sometimes gets stuck in heater mode

A couple times now, I've started the truck and started down the road (on a hot day) and have not been able to turn off the heater (and the AC on). the controls are lit on the dials, but won't change when pressed. When I go to the App climate control area, nothing responds there either...
