It'll be fine. I couldn't tell a significant difference between the component 6x9 and 3 way 6x9. Both were infinity. The 3 way just won't play the highs. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the upgrade. I was.
The rear on the HK are crossed at about 600hz and are not full range. Wish they were.
I put in the infinity component 6x9s in the front. Bought them on Amazon for $99. Sold the tweeters and crossovers on eBay for $40. If you can do the same, it's a steal.
They sound really good and...
If you're a Costco member, I see they have some electric and gas ones. Personally given how awesome the return and warranty is there, I'd not hesitate to try one out. I might replace my electric Briggs this year.
I'm very happy with mine as well. I maybe would like a touch wider size, but then I'd have a ride that may be a bit stiffer (different rating). Grip on snow is great.
The wildpeaks are pretty good noise wise but definitely more buzz than A/S. Throw some Michelin defenders on and then it'll be really quiet but look like a sissy truck.
Yeah that's quite a bit. Can you guys take some measurements before and after so we can verify how much? I'd like to do this but might be limited on how much due to parking garage height.
Also... Almost looks like there are two spacers on the pic Jake posted. If that's the case, could maybe...
Billet will definitely look the best if it gets dirty. Granite isn't terrible for appearance with dirt, but it will show. I have granite and really really like it. With black badges, it looks pretty sinister.
I replaced every speaker, 3.5s and 6x9s and sub. See details in signature.
I had about a 10% decrease in overall volume from the 3.5s. About a 25% increase in volume and bass response from the 6x9s.
Overall I am much happier with the sound quality of the infinity vs stock HK speakers. The mid...
They are as follows on the HK System:
Dash
3.5s - HP @ 200hz
Front Doors
6x9s - LP @ 600hz
3.5s - HP @ 600hz (I believe these are reversed polarity)
Rear
6x9s Door - LP @ 600hz (will confirm)
3.5s Headliner - HP @ 600hz (will confirm)
I've not done a close test on the rears. Will do these...
I did not. The HK system seems to be crossed at the amp. I've run a frequency generator on them and they seem to cut out well before the range these are ok at.
I can't say the same for other systems though.
I posted this before, but if you really want to kill road noise from the back wall, hanging 1 piece of Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) the size of the wall will knock it down by about 20-40%. You'll want one large continuous piece and for best results hanging somewhat loose. It's actually pretty easy...
