I wish he would have discussed what his payload rating was on the truck and how that compared to his cargo and Tongue weight. Based on what the truck looks like it probably doesn't have a payload of more than 1350-1400 lbs.
Thanks for your response. Let be more specific; the seal on the back panel doesn't touch the tailgate as it sits too high. That is my frustration.
The side seals are folding under themselves, or rather rolling under themselves. So I am constantly having to slide my finger under the side seal...
I have the Bakflip MX4 on my Laramie and overall not happy with it. For the money ($1k) it should fit better than it does. The end of the cover where it meets tailgate sits about a 1/4 inch above the tailgate. The rubber on the side of the panels that meet the bed rails are constantly folding...
Based on SAE J2807 Test starts it states this.
In addition to a vehicle’s base curb weight, the “Tow Vehicle Total Weight” (TVTW) for testing tow vehicles allocates 150 pounds for the driver, 150 pounds for a front seat passenger, the weight of all tow package equipment, and spicified weight...
That's what really boggles my mind. I see so many trucks with either massive trailers and or loads and wonder how many are over the payload based on the charts I have studied.
Short of a 3500 CTD which for a daily driver that is a non work truck for me rides too rough and hard to justify the...
I myself don't feel cheated; I just did not educate myself enough and didn't realize there was so much to towing and weight. This is my first truck so I took the numbers more as face value and never once thought about build variations.
I am dealing with the same thing. Every extra options such as the Pano roof adds weight and therefore takes away from the max payload of roughly 1800 lbs. It is not just tires as it has to do with frame, suspension and so on.
I myself am frustrated as my truck/build is at 1361, so by the time...
A couple of more questions. I am assuming I need to consider the weight of a WDH which is most likely around 100lbs. Does the WDH give me the ability to adjust tongue weight in putting more weight into the trailer.
My truck shows a tow rating of roughly 8200 lbs and the trailer is 6200 empty...
Payload on the door sticker shows 1361 lbs, not very high. This doesn't leave much room as my family is estimated at around 550 lbs and will only become more as the kids get older. If my math is correct is leaves around 200lbs for additional cargo.
That being said couldn't I just put more of...
Well, this Sunday the truck goes to the dealer for a headlight that is out plus a few other items below. Anyone else had these issues?
- Bad headlight
- Knock at startup - sound s like starter not disengaging fast enough
- Front bumper needs to be aligned properly
I am not trying to hijack the thread but I really tried to follow the math about by DevilDodge but don't fully understand it. I too am looking at towing a Grand Design Camper and want to make sure that my truck will be safe. Here is what I have...
Can you help me with the math? Thanks
2019...
Good news. The Tekonsha 3024-P connector works. I installed this yesterday and though I have not towed with it to confirm it works it does have the right connector and does power up. Here is some pics for future reference.
Does anyone know if there is a plug n play brake controller harness for the 2019? eTrailer has a harness but says it is not confirmed for the 2019.
Thanks
