Here is one take on towing with the GM 6.2 vs Ford EB Hybrid vs Ram HO. They all preferred to tow with the 6.2, the HO was "working harder to build that boost". The HO is obviously quickest 0 to 60 but that's the most useless metric in a truck.
So yeah, Ram needs another v8.
Give it up man, you made a silly comment and got called out for it.
I like how you think you can find a HO for 50K 🤷♂️
Considering you can only find HO's in premium trims, you're quite likely to be in the same ballpark, HO vs EV.
The EVs don't care because they smoke the HO. And the Hemi...
Because it's old tech, which is the point. These newer hurricanes are going to be "cab off" for more repairs, you'll have less chance to DIY it all. Turbos are a wear item.
Well let me know when you find a HO for 50k.
Doing this apples to apples, any truck EV that competes in price with the...
This guy gets it. It's not about 0 to 60. A truck needs to be powerful (which the 5.7 objectively is at ~400 hp), and it needs to be reliable for several hundred thousand miles while being easy to work on (back yard garage), cheap to repair, high availability of used parts etc.
The hemi is all...
You know how much 0 to 60 means to me? Zilch. I'd take more power during towing, but having a high strung whizzer is not my cup of tea.
Don't forget a lot of ram guys bought a hemi and not an ecoboom despite the strong performance from that 3.5, so for us it's not about the 0 to 60.
Amazing...
Please no. I happen to enjoy cars/trucks with an interior and have no interest in battery operated golf carts. Elon can't do anything without his fragile ego getting in the way.
I do agree with the rest 100%. Maybe Chrysler's grandson should get together some actual investors instead of...
Ram didn't make that decision. Tavares came down from on high and said "no more v8s". This wasn't a decision made because the I6 is a superior engine, it was a decision made because they want to push everyone into EV's, and because they want to have one transitional ICE engine they can use...
You all need to stop framing this as "hurricane vs hemi". It's not about that, it's about "hurricane vs the v8 they SHOULD have made". The mistake wasn't replacing the hemi, it was what they replaced it with. The fix is to get that new v8 out the door.
And just a little note, the hemi is a 20...
Ford took years to get the ecoboost right, and in Canada anyway the 5.0 is still hugely popular.
But Ford is a different brand and customer base than FCA; dodge and ram are built around the hemi. No other brand had stuffed massive and spicy v8's under everything they could. When you wanted that...
You may want to check out this video, there is at least one or two others on that channel previously as well which goes into detail, he tries to replace it and apparently its not for the faint of heart!
Almost 100% positive they're all 4wd. You can't find 2wd trucks here in Canada. He does note several times that this is the rebel and he plans to retest with a regular trim HO when he can get one, but there is no way it manages to beat the 5.0 or 5.3 even in a bighorn trim, never mind the 2.7...
