Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

I only use Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 in mine, but I do understand someone attempting to address a specific problem, either real or imagined, by moving away from the one size fits all approach that FCA, and other manufacturers, have went to in order to comply with CAFE regulations. As far as having...

Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

I’m not disagreeing with you on what the manual states, clearly they can deny warranty if a non recommended oil is used and it damages the engine. How an oil that is API and MS-6395 certified can damage an engine in a grade other than 5W-20 defies logic. The OM doesn’t say that using any grade...

Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

But if the oil you’re using is API certified and meets MS-6395 how is it not recommended when the OM lists numerous grades that are API certified and can (do) meet MS-6395 without a specific warning not to use them because they will damage the engine and “void the warranty”? That’s why I said...

It states that they won’t cover damage caused by using a fluid that’s not recommended, doesn’t state they will “void the warranty” simply for using it. In your case they would have to prove the Redline you use damaged the engine according to their own wording.

Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

That says they won’t cover damage caused by the use of fluids not recommended, not that they will “void your warranty” for simply using them. And since they recommend using API certified oils that meet MS-6395, they would have to prove that the API certified oil that meets their certification...

Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

If you believe the oil film thickness provided by the recommended 5W-20 and the factory oil cooler is adequate for the operating conditions then oil temperature is irrelevant. I guess I don’t see why you’re so concerned with oil temperature if the MOFT is adequate? And the difference in...

Got oil cooler? No, u don’t...

Nowhere in the OM does it say the warranty will be “voided” if any grade other than the recommended, not required, 5W-20 is used. I think the OP will have a much bigger problem with MOPAR by installing an aftermarket oil cooler, thermostat and remote mount oil filter if things go sideways than...

I don’t discount the Hemi tick or the cam issues, but you’re right that the incremental benefit will be quite small and at the end of the trucks life there’s no way to know if it made any difference at all. But I get the warm and fuzzy feeling. If you’re concerned about the heat a much simpler...

If one considers the untold millions of towing miles that the 5.7L has completed successfully with the factory setup then the answer is no.

Yep, coking can be an issue in turbos if the wrong oil is used. Dexos 1 addresses this so a 5W-20 with the D1G2 certification, like Pennzoil Platinum, is capable of handling high engine heat. Not all 5W-20 oils carry the D1G2 certification because GM doesn’t recommend that grade in any of their...

In addition to API and ILSAC requirements oils that carry the Dexos 1 Generation 2 license also have to pass additional tests that evaluates a lubricants resistance to coking and buildup at extreme temperature operation in turbocharged engines. D1G2 also has a limit of 13% Noack volatility...

Maybe I’m giving Mobils legal and corporate staff too much credit for suddenly, after approximately 12 years, recommending their product to consumers, both private and commercial/government/fleet, that have vehicles that need the recommended/required MS-6395 approval. I’ll officially withdraw...

    Oil

Agreed, Mobil isn’t stupid which is why I have a hard time believing they would assume the product liability of recommending their oils without the proper documentation to back them up.

    Oil

I suppose one can interpret Mobils wording however one chooses, but I would think that they have complied with Stellantis/FCAs requirements before they added MS-6395 to the data sheets and the database for recommending their oil for MS-6395 applications. Jeep recommends oils that meet MS-13340...

The home made "tests" done by Project Farm are totally worthless.
