...figured I would update you on the 3.5" ReadyLift. It performed good in the mountains last week and still rides like stock. The stock shocks leave something to be desired but I knew that going into it.
I am running 35" Nitto Recons...almost silent on road, very good traction off road, and...
I am running the Readylift 3.5" spacer kit that retains the stock shocks (3.5" front, 2" rear). It includes UCA's and drives likes stock, so there was no improvement in performance other than more ground clearance. I am running 35s. So far, the kit has been what I was looking for at the...
It should take it intact and why I installed it. In my experience, an add-on grill guard is often a 'damage multiplier' for a high speed deer strike.
I am from the Texas hill country and if you haven't hit a deer in a few years, statistics are not on your side. I have plowed 3 white tails and...
Yes, a little. I trimmed the plastic in the front corners of the fender wells and hammered back the metal tab there but not more than maybe 3" or so. I get a tiny rub still but another inch of trimming and it should be good. I did not have to hammer down the pinch weld but probably will at...
My 35" Recon grappler fits...sort of. After removal of the heat shields and deflating it down to about 20psi, I was able to wedge it in there. Once I rotate them all through at 5k miles, it should fit easier, lol.
Or, I was considering taking a grinder to the back side of the receiver hitch...
18x9 -12 is the perfect offset and size, but ensure the 18" wheels fit. Not all of them do.
These are Method 305s in that exact size with 325/65-18 on 3.5" of lift, so your 285s will easily fit.
A little, lol. I was a BFG KO2 fan and ran them for a decade at least, but they are pricing themselves out. These Recons were $40 a tire cheaper for both rigs and so far, have been equal if not better for me.
Out of those two, Ridge for sure. Also consider the new Recon Grappler. I am running those on both my Ram and Jeep, they have excellent ride and traction and are quiet.
The Ridge Grapples are alright, but not great, and I would not run them again. I am also a BFG KO2 fan and ran them for years on several rigs, but ended up with the Recon Grapplers on both my Jeep and truck. They were recommended by my off-road shop guy and $40 a tire cheaper. The Recons have...
I am starting this post with a thank you to boogielander for his posts on wheel and tire combinations and offset as well as brake caliper clearance. I had reached the same conclusions as him based on my research but his posts locked it in for me. In the end, I would argue the below wheel and...
My experience with two 1500's. coming from a guy that wheels his Jeeps.
I added 2.5" front and 1" rear spring spacers to my '14 1500 and 35's and the ball joints lasted about 20k miles before starting to separate. The dealer somehow replaced them under warranty, and I drove it another 10k...
Also consider, when talking about "offset", it is dependent on the width of the wheel. For example a 9" wide wheel with -12mm offset has roughly the same backspacing as a 9.5" wide wheel with -18mm offset. I like to convert everything to backspacing so that I know where the inside of the wheel...
I agree.
The issue is clearing the front ball joints with the inside of the tire and therefore having correct wheel backspacing (or offset). I will be installing 35x12.5 in the coming weeks and according to my measurements and calculations, I need at least 0.5" less backspacing than stock to...
I tow a 30' 7,500lbs bumper pull travel trailer with my '23 1500 all the time, no problem. I use a weight distrubution/anti-sway hitch and a brake controller and can pull it at 75mph all day with the 5.7L. I typically tow at 70mph though and it will pull big Texas hill country hills with...
