There really is nothing wrong with developing alternate ways to power different aspects of our economy. No one in their right mind should automatically be against finding cleaner, more sustainable methods to power our economy and continue the truly blessed, fortunate lifestyles we enjoy in...

The electric motors are impressive, but the motors are the easy part - it's the battery that matters. Unless Ram has truly innovative batteries, this truck will disappoint in the real world, just as the F150 Lightning & Hummer EV1 have been huge disappointments so far.
.
It's the REPB that...

I've wanted the same thing - a diesel-electric half-ton pickup. I haven't heard of any diesel-electric pickups in the works, although I believe both Ram and Ford are working on gas-electric "range-extender" light-duty trucks. Most of the speculation about Ram's upcoming "electrified Rams"...

I agree that the EcoDiesel is a great vehicle, I love mine. But driving an unloaded diesel 7 miles to work every day is poor use of a diesel, and will eventually ruin it. So I putt to work and back and do my short-trip town errands in the 18 year old Prius and use the Ram for hauling...
.
True, not yet anyway. BUT, it's entirely possible that a plug-in, gas-electric hybrid might actually be better overall. The smooth torque of electric motors beats even diesels. The quietness of electric propulsion when you're out in the woods is actually a very nice benefit that you won't...

I believe Ram plans on having additional options besides pure BEV starting in 2024. They will also have a gas-electric hybrid, and rumor has it possibly also a hydrogen fuel-cell option later on. Properly done, a plug-in, gas-electric hybrid could be the real sweet spot for half-ton pickups...
I don't speak for the admins, I speak only for myself. 5thgenrams is a great website partly because political rhetoric and politically-oriented opinions are not welcome and are generally not displayed here. Why? Because people get way too much of that everywhere else, and they enjoy a website...
Re: "As the Ram Heavy Duty models redesigned towing mirrors, a new hood design, the new digital clusters, and the introduction of a Rebel model, the Ram 1500 should go mostly unchanged for 2023."
SAY WHAT? Redesigned towing mirrors? Does anyone have any details on that?
Really? I have a 2020 Ram I love, and a 2005 Prius that is indeed easy on fuel and also extremely reliable. I'm smart enough to use each vehicle appropriately, and appreciate each for what it does well. Your in-your-face-political attitude is entirely unwarranted, and it frankly diminishes you...

As a summer-hire with a major oil company in California in the mid-1980s, I had the pleasure of driving for most of one summer a 1965 D500 Sweptline-style Crew Cab super-long wheelbase flat bed with an A-frame cable winch on it and tool boxes galore on both sides slung below the bed for...

Speaking of "future Ram EV", did any of you sign up for "Ram Revolution"? I did, based on Ram's characterization that I'd get to provide my personal input.
.
What a scam - in all these months since I signed up, I've received only ONE crappy survey asking super-basic questions. Not a single...

I get what you're saying. A co-worker had the Gen-2 ED recall and subsequent miserable performance, so I'm well aware of the genesis of your SA's comment. Sorry I didn't pick up on the humor part of their quote.

Beautiful! And so rare. Thanks for posting the photo.

I love the color, the stock wheels, and what looks like the built-in headrest bucket seats.

Congratulations!!

Good to hear the MFT is already on your list. If by chance you also get Ram Boxes (would your SCUBA gear fit in them?), be sure to order the BUG (bed utility group) to make sure you get the Bed Divider, it's super-handy as well.
.
The whole issue of the Bed Divider was confusing in years past...

Nice post on your ED Rebel. A buddy of mine has a '20 ED Rebel, four-corner air suspension, all pure stock. He does a lot of serious off-roading (working type off-roading in CA deserts, not racing off-roading), he loves his ED Rebel, too.

I really dig the '70 RR convertible 440 6-pack in...

My 2020 EcoDiesel had the DEF recall applied a few months ago, I've had no issues at all.
.
By your description, it sounds like your "Service Adviser" is a little snarky, which is both unprofessional and unhelpful. There's no need for that kind of childish behavior, ever, from anyone...
It is correct that, in general, the extra purchase cost of the ED over the Hemi (or even the 3.6 L gas) is recouped at time of sale. Of course, if you otherwise would have invested the difference btwn Ed & Hemi and were lucky enough to get a good ROI on the stock market, the payback for the ED...

You might also consider emailing Sean Holman at Truck Show Podcast ([email protected]) . If there is anyone who would know what you can do to the Ram 1500 air suspension to make it more to your liking offroad, it's Sean Holman. In addition to asking about potential mods, ask him if he...

That's a purely political posting, not helpful. Yes, some electricity is still produced by burning coal, but most of it is not.
.
One of the very best things about 5thgenrams is that there is very little politicizing, mostly just informative, helpful posts. Please don't ruin it with any more...

Unfortunately, Ram's air suspension is not the best for offroad use. It's superb on paved roads and for towing, and for increased body clearance when offroad, but two deficits: (1) As you already discovered, when you raise it to max height for ground clearance, the suspension becomes so stiff...
