I've realized Ram has terrible quality control. I have another large defect on my driver door near the roof line under the clear. I've decided to live with that one even though the dealer agreed to fix it. But since it's not at eye level I rarely see it. Didn't want to risk a repaint repair that...
So I just got my truck back from the dealer for the 3rd brake light leak. After doing a thorough inspection for damage I found a paint defect under the passenger side tail light. I'm not sure if they did it or not, but the paint is cracking from an internal mini dent. Almost looks like something...
So it was confirmed at the dealer today that my leak was from the 3rd brake light. They used black rtv to seal it, but not sure how much I like that fix. I would have preferred a new rubber seal that many of the people on here got at lowes and did the fix themselves. Now it will be hard for...
Got my truck back from the dealer. Confirmed 3rd brake light leak. They cleaned the minor stain on the headliner. Not sure I like how they did the fix. They used RTV, so now it's going to be a pain if I ever have to change a bulb on the light. Hopefully at least it doesn't leak anymore...
1300 miles must be the magic number. Seen a few that had similar miles when the leak started, including my 2020. Mine is currently at the shop for leak diagnosis but I'm pretty confident it's the 3rd brake light. When it was leaking, you can push on the light from the exterior and see water...
That is a good point. My dad probably wouldn't have even noticed his cracks in the window if I didn't ask him to take a look. I know that my rear headliner was wet at least one time before based on the stain. Kinda like rings on a cut tree. You can usually count the water stain lines to see...
I would really be curious of the number of trucks with water leaking, regardless of whether its from the rear of the truck, sunroof, firewall, etc. Keeping water out of the cab really shouldn't be that hard.
As for the rate of failure in my family...it's 100%. Both my dad's '19 and my '20 have...
Hopefully tightening the screws will solve the problem. How was your repair experience? Any issues with the truck after the replacement (other than not tightening the screws in the light)?
Was your window cracked before it was replaced or did they just think it was the window leaking so they replaced it? Perhaps it was the brake light not the original window?
Dropped my truck off at the dealer this morning. Wish me luck! I've had some bad experiences at different dealerships, so I am really worried my truck is not gonna come back in the flawless condition it is when I dropped it off (well I guess not flawless since it's leaking water, but the...
Funny that mines not cracked, but leaks, but yours is cracked and no leaks. Mines most likely the third brake light though. I'm sure mine will crack soon.
Depends on the dealer, but seems most have a glass company do it. The dealer near me subs it out.
I don't know for sure, but from what I've read they remove the back seat and drop the headliner partially.
I was just saying to my wife that it's crazy that they are still having these leak at the light. You would think by now it would be solved. There are so many ways that it could be fixed. One sure way would be to have that area where the breaklight gets inserted sealed along with a drain hole...
I was hoping my screws on the light were loose, but unfortunately they were very tight. I'm guessing the gasket just isn't thick enough to properly compress along with it being a super cheap crap gasket. I'm finding Ram cheaped out a lot on the parts they used. Wonder what it truly cost to...
I am going to really push and have them just replace the third brake light instead of going the route of replacing the window. I'd rather have them do a small job like that then go through a big job of replacing the window and potentially screwing something up if they don't have to. And then...
