    2019 vs 2016

I tow for a living. Most sway is caused by insufficient tongue weight. Usually due to improperly distributed loading and or height differences in the receiver & hitch to a level trailer. Tongue weight normally should be between 10 & 15% of the gross trailer weight. If your TW is much below 10...

    Lets see those 4th Gens!

 Couldn't get the pics to load here so below I have linked where I posted them on this forum earlier. As an update when the 4th gen trucks hit 621,369 miles (1 million kilometers) the clusters stop recording mileage, trip, current fuel economy, and distance to empty. As seen in...

    Best oil for eco diesel

Best may be hard to define but good inexpensive and readily available I would and am using Rotella T6 a full synthetic for diesels.

My buddy just bought a 2020 ecodiesel

What little turbo lag some of the gen 2 EDs had was easily and cheaply resolved with throttle commander or better yet a tune. It may be a year before anyone has an EPA compliant tune for the gen 3. Canadian or off shore countries may come out with a better non EPA compliant tuner sooner. Guess...

High ED RPM @75mph in 34F?

My 3.92 would turn about 2,100 at 75 and would normally average about 24 on a long highway trip unloaded.

The wait is over! Worst in class lag?

alamigirian what was the gear in the truck you test drove 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92? Some different tuning & shifting points etc in the diesel version of the 8 speed. It was German assembled instead of us assembled in the 4th gen. Don’t know about now. My 3.92 never had any lag even before my GDE...

ETA for Diesel on Dealer lots, any word yet?

New Love, Likely Be 10 months before you would beat that by much. You been chomping at the bit for months. I’d pull the trigger if it’s largely the model trim options color you want. I was an early (April) buyer of the 14. It stickered for 46k I paid 40k with employee discount. Never...

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

Yes you can read about that earlier in this thread.

ETA for Diesel on Dealer lots, any word yet?

I do believe tunes do help with reliability especially when they turn off EGR. My friend Steve purchased his ED brand new to transport airstreams, never tuned, put 214 K on before health problems retired him and never had the first repair. So I never felt tunes were a requirement for...

ETA for Diesel on Dealer lots, any word yet?

For the thread troll Fiat no more builds VM Motori’s ED than it does Chrysler’s Hemi. Which is to say it doesn’t. All Mfgrs diesels have had problems for the past few years. It’s because our uber powerful and out of control EPA forced diesel emissions on Mfgrs & to bring them to market before...

    Lol results may vary.

The wait is over! Worst in class lag?

The gen 2 3.55 trucks with 20s and tall 33” tires had some lag. If you got a 3.92 or a tune or a pedal commander or even to some degree the 17s with 31.9” tall tires the lag disappeared. 2020’s are hitting the lots now so we should learn if lag is still an annoyance when ordered with the...

    MPG at 80 MPH

I have a 2014 with 3.92 and tune. I often return to Ohio from western states unloaded. I average 23 mpg with cruise set on 80-82 mph occasionally 24 mpg. This would be for a 400 to 600 mile clip. I suspect the 2020 box stock with 3.21/3.55 gear will do at least as well.

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

Fiat doesn’t build the Ecodiesel anymore than they do the Hemi or Ram truck which is to say not at all. FCA just now wholly owns VM Motori the same as they now own Ram. The new Ecodiesel engine is 80 percent new parts. Same excellent CGI block like what Cummins now went to New heads intake...

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

I think also I said or put on big miles annually or something to that effect. Range is another good reason. I have different times run 700 miles on a tank running all interstate. You do fuelie check out the ED numbers on their.

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

EDs have not “plummeted” in value according to KBB etc. here in the states I don’t know about your prices in Canada. As to the “massive cost” to maintaining the diesel. When new in 2014 the dealership charged me $125 every 10k for a full synthetic oil change per warranty. Post warranty I do it...

    2020 Ram 1500 ECODIESEL Numbers:

371,500 miles on my first engine until leaking EGR cooler (thank over reaching government) caused low coolant & pushed a head gasket. Not VM Motori or the motors fault. In part bad on me. 226,000 on its replacement so far. Only one issue I got a load of bad fuel. Great mileage, tows 1/2 ton...

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

If the economy difference running with an empty bed & nothing in tow is what you’re basing whether it’s worth it don’t buy one you don’t get it.

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

It probably will be 33 EPA Hwy. That was their experience at higher speeds. You just have to actually take the time to read it.

6 mpg better than Hemi in C&G tests

In 200 mile 75 mph hwy & local tests same gear same configuration the ED averaged 6 mpg better than the Hemi. Still would take 86,000 miles in their example to recoup the additional cost. If that’s the only benefit you took into account. Ram said elsewhere a tank of fuel should take it over...
